Thank you to all who contributed.
As I expected, judging was made difficult because of the variety of shapes/constructions and the variety of weather and situation.
Some lighthouses are just plain pretty; beautiful structure, well maintained and perfectly situated.
Others are very utilitarian.
But the purpose of a lighthouse (perhaps with the exception of the one in Vienna!) is to guide vessels and save lives.
So the little beacon in Tunisia might have as much value as the gorgeous group of buildings at Portland ME.
Five different persons might have chosen five different images as the winner.
But, it is my choice this week!!
The contenders;
Bruce Clark - Cape Byron - the steps help show the light is on a steep and high point and the clouds are something else. A lovely scene.
Hattifnatt - Vienna - contrast against dark sky. Striking.
ChiefD - Hawaii - dark and moody. Enough light still on the sea to emphasize the situation
atupdate (Tim) - Location? - Striking silhouette amid the golden sky and water.
forensicscientist - Portland ME - as I said; a gorgeous group of buildings. Well captured and tourist brochure-esque.
I enjoyed every other image, so please don't be disappointed.
There is only one winner and it is
Well done Tim.
(I'm a sucker for light playing on water)
