#381 - Movie Time!
Posted By: Hattifnatt, 03-06-2017, 01:50 AM

Welcome to Weekly Challenge #381 - MOVIE TIME!!

Thanks to Will for a wonderful challenge last week and to all who participated.

This week I want to see pictures that evoke movies. It can be a picture which reminds you of a particular scene from a certain movie, or maybe it's just the mood or atmosphere of a movie that you may capture, deliberately or just by chance. You can support your post with a few words telling us which movie is it, or if the movie it's not so well-known you are free to also post a still from the movie, an IMDB reference or maybe even a short clip in the form of a youtube video. Whatever works. I will give you a few examples below from my own work to better understand what I want.

The Challenge will run until midnight next Monday, March 13, 2017, whichever time zone you are in.

"Anyone got a match?" It was the line that made Lauren Bacall famous. Above is a still from To Have and Have Not (1944) and below is my take, probably resembling any movie with Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart.

Life of Pi
is such a beautifully shot film that coming close to it was something that I've only dreamed about. I got my chance while I was sailing somewhere in the Gulf of Thailand, this is the best I could do:

This is a picture taken near Stavanger, Norway. I'll let you figure the movie reference yourself.

I've been obsessed with Another Earth since the day I saw it. The more I think about it, the more I love it, but so far no luck with this one. Below is a still from the movie.

The fine print:
Every week, a new theme is picked and judged by the winner of the previous week.

Rules
1. Post ONE photo (max 1024x1024).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax/Ricoh (DSLR) camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

I miss the feature for commenting on why you "like" a photo. These are great so far. Eva, I love the effect you conjured with the high key background and those eyes!!

@tessfully: The comment feature is still there when I click like from the simple skin forum template.

@geomez: This one also reminds me of Godzilla.

Good point! I hadn't even thought of that. I was fixated on the water.

A lot of people have said this image reminds them of Back to the future:

Pentax K-7 - SMCP-K 50mm f/1.2 @ f/8 ISO100 30s

I had this image planned out for years, and it only took 30s to create.
