Posted By: maxwell1295, 08-10-2008, 06:14 PM

POTW : This week from Sunday August 3rd - Sunday August 17th.

Lets keep up the high standard of shots we have seen over the past weeks.

Rules as before:
1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week .
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Runs for 7 days <Sunday august 03> to <Sunday august 10>
5) Enter anything you shot last week or this current week until the thread closes.

More from the FA77. It seems that ever since I decided I might sell it, I can't stop taking photos with this lens! Figures. Guess I'll just have to keep it.

Red/Green

No special processing here -- this is the image as I saw it.

It's Gone Half Two

I decided to stick the close-up adapter from my Cosina 100mm macro on the FA77. Since it takes the Cosina from 1:2 to 1:1 it acts as x2 magnification on that lens. Now, my diopter math skills are a bit rubbish. Does this mean it still does x2 magnification on the FA77? Or is it different because of the different lens focal length?

Sprite

Anyway, the adapter performs a little oddly, as one would expect. It's not made for this lens but with a bit of creativity is giving me some cool abstracts.

Radiator

And here's the third shot made this way.

Zewrak interesting series. The second version just looks creepy and for me doesn't work. The third shot is a very good conversion but makes her almost look like she's one of those needy children you see on the charity TV ads. The first shot is excellent. For me the colour version is much better than the others. Those eyes have to be in full colour.

Interesting how the same image can have 3 totally different responses.

Rosemary, it's an Eastern Osprey. A fairly large hawk that is about 60-70% of the size of a Bald Eagle. Like BE's they always sit at the top of a tree ad rarely let you get close. So the shots are always with a bright sky and from a distance. This was shot with the 1000mm f10 1/250th ISO320. I was about 120meters from the bird and he would not let me get closer.

Now as for your 'wildlife' shot. That's a very nice shot. really good control of the shadows and the reflective top. Nice work.

Not necessarily my best stuff but I am very pleased with these shots. Trying not to 'accentuate' some aspects of subject.

This was a job on the weekend for a mom and her daughters, one of whom lives in Scotland and is rarely home.

Sorry for the placement of the watermarks but you know why.

This was shot with an AF 360 on minimum power through an umbrella to the left and a light on the right fired through a diffuser panel (one of those 42" disk reflector 5 in 1 units) with the DA16-45mm

Zewrak - I absolutely love all the different processing results. They each tell their own tale.

My turn!

reeftool - those are good shots. It is is difficult to capture shy birds without hiding in a blind. I like the first and last.

rparmar - nice abstracts. The first one is not my taste but I like the rest. As for your question to me it is similiar to how much wood could a woodchuk chuck ....

Peter - nice osprey - glad to hear you are getting more paid gigs. Really nice portrait work. With the black and lighting it does have a keltic feel to it. Well done.

Rosemary - the same question can be asked of your shot , which is nice BTW (what kind of Brid is that!) As a happily married man I am aksing for all the signle men here

Zewrak - nice different look on the same shot. I kinda like the second one.

ftpaddict - a nice series. I might crop a bit of the sky in #2 and I agree #3 is my favorite as well.

Tran - a new model nicely done. I like that she is looking out to sea and her expression is intense. Your also intrigue the audience what is she wearing under the cloth

A few more from me - nothing special just out shooting about ... click on image for larger view
