Challenge #395-- "You should frame that"
Posted By: charliezap, 08-01-2017, 06:55 AM

Once again I am honored and humbled to be hosting the Weekly Challenge.
The hardest part about hosting to me is thinking of a new theme but I think that we can all have fun with this one.

We all take many pictures of different subjects and I bet that many of us have heard from others that "You Should Frame That".We all have shots that would look good on a wall in our homes-places where we work-gifts for others--etc. The subject can be of anything and enhancements (PP) will be allowed for your frameable entry.I think that I have all the bases covered for this challenge. If not I'll be happy to respond to your questions.--The Challenge will close on Tuesday August 8 at midnight my time.

The fine print:
Every week, a new theme is picked and judged by the winner of the previous week.

Rules
1. Post ONE photo (max 1024x1024).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax/Ricoh (DSLR) camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge

Here are some examples to jump start your thinking.--charliezap

This would be a lot easier if we could post 8 images like Charlie did.

My wife likes to go kayaking on on the Roseau River reservoir, so I had this image printed at 20 x 30, but it is still in the packaging it came back in. In the full sized print, the ripples in the water are distinct even in the corners and you can clearly see the haze in front of the trees, along with boats and docks on the left. It's a bit off topic, but the only framed photo of mine in our house is a golden hour shot of the Twin Towers taken from Liberty State Park in New Jersey in the late afternoon on a day in January, 1997. I was shooting cheap Ektachrome with a P3N with a 28-70 Vivitar consumer zoom; a photo lab made a large format negative from my slide and cleaned up the image before printing it. It was framed at a business that had recently opened and they asked if they could display it in their store for a couple of weeks before I took it home.

This image is on my wall. It is a shot I will never ever get to replicate. I might have even posted this in a previous Weekly Challenge.

I have posted this one before on one of the challenges, and, to be honest, no one has ever asked me to frame it but it is still one of my favorites. This one was taken on our second trip to this location several years apart and one of the few times we got up at 5 AM to make it before sunrise.

Susan: First time I've seen this image. If this was my image I would definitly frame it.

I encourage everyone to click on Susan's image to go to Flikr and then click on the image again to see the larger size. There is so much more depth to the image when you view the larger version.

Frameable Picture

Here is a picture I did a long time ago when I first started photography. Still love it.

Taken last September on the Dom Luís bridge, Porto. While the majority were (sensibly) watching the setting sun, I had the good luck to glance down and catch a glimpse of the ever-lengthening shadows below. Not framed yet, but on the list.
