#396 Urban or Rural Decay
Posted By: ramseybuckeye, 08-11-2017, 02:12 PM

Hattifnatt (Cosmin) is traveling (hopefully taking some great photos for us to enjoy) and unable to host so I am filling in.

It's always hard to come up with a.challenge subject. I belong to a couple interesting Flickr groups that have inspired this challenge, Urban Decay, and Rural Decay. We have forum members that live in the biggest cities and some that live in very remote areas, so we will go with both. So show us your rust, your corrosion, your weathered wood, your peeling paint, your crumbling mortar, whatever it takes.to show neglected, damaged, or abandoned structures, machines, you name it..--The Challenge will close on Friday August 18 at midnight my time.

The fine print:
Every week, a new theme is picked and judged by the winner of the previous week.

Rules
1. Post ONE photo (max 1024x1024).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax/Ricoh (DSLR) camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge

East Lake

Everyday we're suffering fog and haze in Wuhan, a heavy industry city, there's hardly clear days. Though Wuhan has the largest number of lakes in China, but air pollution is a main problem here, we want to live in fresh air, to cherish our natural resouces, to protect our enviroment, so I take this photo to show how beautiful if Wuhan no haze, no air pollution.

Found while wandering around Daejeon. The place looked like it was abandoned halfway through a demolition--other shots show mold covering a wall, debris covering a floor, and a bathroom with its door torn off exposing the pit toilet to the street. Notice the building next door to it on the left, the cracks painted over, the steps repaved by an amateur, a new sign above the store, and yet it shares what's left of a wall with this forlorn place, a place that someone forgot to tell the mailman was mostly gone.
Moments like this I'm glad for my Optio. I'm a traveler who takes pictures, and a heavier camera would have been left at home.

This one was taken in the wetlands in the beginning of the year. Everything was very very wet and a constant battle was going on between the clay amd my feet about who was to get to keep the boots

Gone but the memories are there.

When I was a young lad we used to go fishing off of this pier on the banks of the Saugus River across from the Lynn Ma. GE. This shot is a few years old and today there is very little left. The leaning structure in the background got that way when a large vessel tied up to it during a hurricane and caused it to bend. It is now gone.--charlieo
