Picture of the Week (POTW) # 473 - 3 October to 9 October 2017
Posted By: eva, 10-02-2017, 10:03 PM

Welcome to another round of Picture of the Week (POTW). nobody responded so I did it.
I hope everything is allright...

POTW is a great spot to show off six or fewer shots you take or are editing within the thread's date range. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

To post your great photos, just hit reply and attach away

Please:

• consider including in your post any special circumstances or tips on technique or equipment which might be interesting to others.

• identify your camera and lens if that information is easily available to you.

And please invite other Pentaxians to join us.

Some rules:
1) No theme, just post your favorite pix
2) Six or fewer images per person per thread to prevent thread bloat
3) Any Pentax, Ricoh or Samsung camera, film or digital

The current host will invite a new host via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one. If the thread doesn't start, please contact the host, via PM.

Thanks for hosting Eva, I'm so glad you did. I was on the verge of doing so, and gave myself until today, before I made the plunge. Lovely opening shots, the first one is a bit scary hey!
A contribution from me
Rainy season has begun-played around with the color on this one-the car's color was dark blue.

I've been trying some new filters I got in the mail. The Dandelion was taken using a Cosina 50mm f2 with a Mir Orange colour/contrast filter, the begonia the little 45mm Hexatar Munchen Mike had on the marketplace here a month or 2 back with a Kenko AC +2 close up filter, and the marigold with the Cosina 50mm and the Kenko AC filter. The dandelion and marigold were at f8, the begonia f4 or so.

I've not participated in this challenge before and want to be sure I understand the rules. Is it necessary for the photos to have been taken during the challenge time period, or can they be taken at another time if you are currently editing them?

The idea is that you post images shot during the two week period, just to show (off) what you have been shooting, though no one will complain if you post from another time period. Usually, that is reserved for film images. The editing refers to editing images in the time frame.

These images were captured at Kensington Metropark in Michigan with handheld Pentax K-S2 and smc Pentax-F 1:4.5-5.6 100-300mm at 270mm.

Thanks to all who post in this thread.

Best wishes,
Stu

K3 + HD PENTAX-D FA* 70-200mm F2.8 ED DC AW using F 2.8 + 200 ISO equilivent

Some photos from a visit to the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha Nebraska yesterday afternoon

includes a " goof " -

the terrible mistake of fingers caught in front of the lens of the DSLR and

a rare photo of a " Siamese twins " cheetah

all hand held, natural lighting, cropped and pp .

I showed the "hand held " photo of the gorilla to the original photographer and she started to apologize - I said don't, that I had internally included her phone in my image

The " Flying Fox " and Gorilla photos are shot through glass windows ( one in the aptly named tree top restaurant and the other the window of the enclosure )

intentionally using F2.8 allowed me to shoot through the wired enclosure of the Cheetahs without showing the wire because of DOF

I stood well back of the fence and the animals were also separated a distance from the fence.

Various focal lengths, actual distances between the lens and the subject and exposure times, check EXIF for details
