Posted By: noelcmn, 11-08-2017, 11:37 AM

Welcome to Picture of the Week (POTW) for the period 25 October - 7 November 2017 2017. It’s my pleasure to host this week and you are invited to contribute to this wonderful diverse thread.

POTW is a great spot to show off six or fewer shots you take or are editing within the thread's date range. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

To post your great photos, just hit reply and attach away

feel free to start immediately, if not sooner

Please:

• consider including in your post any special circumstances or tips on technique or equipment which might be interesting to others.

• identify your camera and lens if that information is easily available to you.

And please invite other Pentaxians to join us.

Some rules:
1) No theme, just post your favorite pix
2) Six or fewer images per person per thread to prevent thread bloat
3) Any Pentax, Ricoh or Samsung camera, film or digital

The current host will invite a new host via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one. If the thread doesn't start, please contact the host, via PM.

These were all shot with my K-3 and my Sigma 17-50 lens. The first three were taken Monday, after the torrential rains here in Northeast Ohio, on Sunday night. Image four and five are shot at Walborn Reservoir In Alliance Ohio. Image six was taken near Blue Hen Falls in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

I do count myself lucky to have things happening in the garden at the moment, I don’t seem to have to go far for a photo. The first and last photos were with the Industar 61 50mm macro with 11 and 30mm extension tubes respectively. I caught the first photo as I stepped out the door between showers to go somewhere on an overcast and wet day, going back inside to get camera and tripod and take the 5 mins to set it up. I was really pleased to have a good sharp photo to show from the Industar. I ran outside quickly this morning with a black umbrella and spray bottle to recreate those conditions, and take the second flower photo.

The auto aperture and very crisp and sharp detail of the Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 50mm macro, as well as the native bees’ natural tendency to hover between erratic bursts of flight, helped with the other photos. I used an 11mm extension tube with these, and the photos have still been cropped somewhat. All these photos were taken at about f16, and lightly processed from raw.

Thanks SJM - I do like to try and catch their faces, and having the takumar and this fellow happy to help out made it that much easier!

Shot with K-s2 and Sigma 17-50mm. Leaves are dropping here, but not to the "stick" stage.

you do struggle with season envy down there, don't you

(in fairness, seasons were one of the things I missed most when I lived there )

Its high summer here, hot as anything- 33⁰ today, though thankfully there is a strong breeze. I could do with some snow . Off to Port Elizabeth and Addo on Sunday 19th! Just reversing some envy

Shot 11/3, processed 11/11, think that still qualifies:
Visited Fredericksburg, VA and stopped at the "Sugar Shack"

above the city

Airliners come and go with regular frequency above Rosslyn / Arlington in Virginia.

Taken with a Pentax Q7+01 standard prime, raw file processed in camera.
