Weekly Challenge #413 Night Shades
Posted By: StephenHampshire, 02-02-2018, 03:03 PM

As charliezap is busy this week, it falls to me as 2nd place winner to set this week's challenge.

It is late winter here in Blighty, and my garden is full of Hellebores, some of which are a rather intense dark purple colour, almost black; these are a favourite photographic subject of mine. Such dark shades are often given names such as "shades of night" and I thought this might make a good challenge for this week....so "Night Shades" - could be a deep purple flower, a deep blue moonlit shot, a shot of the Northern or Southern lights....someone wearing sunglasses in the dark???

Some of mine to get you started...

Black hellebore

Tulip "Queen of the night"

Inky shades on a moonlit night

a little night music....

The Pier in Port Elizabeth at night. The lovely russet color of the sand is created by the many lights around the Pier.

Light pillars, shot two years ago yesterday. It was -10F or so and the little ice crystals in the air were reflecting the lights of town.

A very old photo taken back in 2014 with a very budget combo K-30 and M28 f2.8

A bit sad they changed the lighting setup for this bridge and I can not get this kind of star burst shot anymore

I was lucky to get the gulls in focus in this low light with a hand-held 500mm zoom extended. The full moon helped! :-) But I just thought that the slight purplish pastels in the sky and the moon would suit the topic.

See near yet so far.

I used the Bigma lens for this shot a few years ago.The night was approaching fast but all the elements cooperated for the shot.--charliezap.
