Posted By: gawan, 09-01-2008, 09:48 AM

Welcome to POTW # 25

This week's photos will cover these dates: Sunday August 24th through Sunday September 7th. I just took the turn, as I did not saw it started and a new week is here

Let's keep up the high standard of shots we have seen over the past weeks.

Rules as before:

1) No theme just your favorite stuffs.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week .
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Runs for 7 days <Sunday September 1st to September 7th.>
5) Enter anything you shot last week or this current week until the thread closes.

George. It was taken by A* 300mm f2.8 with 1.4L teleconverter

I was going to take shots of a soccer game but I think I ended up with better shots at my own garden.

My humble submissions- taken Labour Day weekend

Thought I'd give this a whirl- love having a place to post shots and get feedback!

Shots taken on Saturday the 30th of August and Monday the 1st of September at a waterfront park in Lachine, Québec and at Centennial Park in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Québec.

All shot with my cheap and fun Tamron 28-105mm f/4-5.6 on a K100D super.

Shot 1: They've finally unlocked the skyline!

Shot 2: A biker in Centennial park, taking a minute to play his PSP in the woods

Shot 3: Just liked the blue-on-blue here, the plastic football abandoned, as if it was meant to be there

Shot 4: A rather ominous sky- we've had crazy weather here this year, seems like these storms just keep rolling in!

Shot 5: There was a photog doing some wedding shots in this park, and loved this scene- especially love the hat!

This shot is good because your composition (lines and patterns), good toning with B+W and selection of the scene. Not due to the lens. That is a nice shot out of daily life.

Thanks James! I also did some PP, mainly cropped and sharpened it a little and applied a green filter to bring the light casts from the lamps better in view! It would have been maybe better I would have had my tripod with me, this was taken hand held at 1/8 seconds shutter speed and full aperture.

I spent some time this weekend walking the trails in the Columbia River Gorge. Here are a few of the results...

Ponytail Falls

MC Zenitar 16/2.8

Triple Falls (view one)

MC Zenitar 16/2.8

Triple Falls (view two)

Pentax-FA 35/2

Ponytail Falls is upstream from the larger and more famous Horsetail falls. Triple Falls is some distance further up the trail on Oneonta Creek (better known for its spectacular fern-hung slot gorge). (I probably should have photo-shopped the people out from the top of the falls...maybe another time...)

I just could not resist posting one more from Sunday's outing to the Swan Island Dahlia farm in Canby south of Portland, Oregon. I got tired of the conventional flower shots and traded out the macro lens for the Zenitar fisheye. The results are not particularly fishy on the K10D, but I like the affect anyway.

Dave, thanks for the lesson on how to direct the flash in mirror self portraits
Great falls, Steve!
Borno, osprey is some sort of a falcon right? Not an eagle?

I am home in a flu so I have time to play with close-ups:

All with my beloved VL125mm

Gawan-

thanks for the feedback! I'm so suprised at the quality of shots here- this is such an inspiring forum, pushes me to think hard and work on composition! I love the BW model shot, also- that's such fantastic composition, and I like the care taken with the aperture/focal length to get that gentle fading OOF area from the top-down angle!

Kudos all!

I'll make some comments on the shots this week a little later. Some very good stuff here again this week. The east has had almost nothing but rain. Every wedding I've shot has been a clear day and it seems like every other day is rain filled. Charlottetown hit a record of 239mm in August and the normal is 87mm.

So everything from me is photo work related.

Peter, I really like the first wedding picture! It is so peaceful with it's controlled blur and spacious composition!
