Project 52, Week 17 - Bridges
Posted By: DanLoc78, 09-05-2008, 10:33 AM

Rules:

1. Anyone and everyone who is interested in eligible
2. Make an attempt to effectively capture the theme of the week
3. Post your single picture in this thread, and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color saturation) but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. let's try to keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves
5. There is one theme labeled black and white, but feel free to post black and white, sepia, etc. for any of the other themes
6. Have fun, provide constructive and friendly criticism, and fire away
7. You may post pictures taken before the current active week; however, only photos captured during the active week will be judged.

This week's theme Bridges will run from today until Friday, September 12th.

Not Challenge Eligable

This image was taken last April and doesn't meet the required date rule. Come to think of it, it doesn't meet the intent of the post processing rule either, as it took a bit of work to even out the sky (I used a linear polarizer on the wide end of the DA18-55). Still, I thought I would share one of my favorite images from that day.

Good luck to the real challenge entries.

Tempe Town Lake Bridge (Az)

It's an art deco bridge across what used to be the Salt River. They damned the river and turned it into a giant wading pool. The bridge endures in all it's incongrous glory and cried our for a high contrast tightly cropped B&W treatment

Well I have a 'bidness meeting in the Windy City this week and I always like to come a few days early to a place I have never been before, Chicago is a great ciyt ! Today I went for several walk abouts - the Windy City can also be called the rainy city today as it poured all day. Still I have a weather sealed K10 and DA* 16-50 and I bought a $8.00 umbrella from Walgreens so here ya go - can you guess what bridge and city this is from

Not much of a guess there, daacon. I have walked that bridge many a time. I had a four year assignment in Chicago, 2000-2004. If you really like bridges, this is the city! I think there are more bridges here than any place except Venice. If you walk the river away from the lake, you will notice that each bridge (one per street/avenue) has a different design of railing.

Enjoy!
