Posted By: StephenHampshire, 04-05-2018, 07:42 AM

Welcome to Picture of the Week (POTW) for the period 28 March to 11 April 2018. rjbrett has asked me to host thiis week, #499

POTW is a great spot to show off six or fewer shots you take or are editing within the thread's date range. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

To post your great photos, just hit reply and attach away

feel free to start immediately, if not sooner

Please:

• consider including in your post any special circumstances or tips on technique or equipment which might be interesting to others.

• identify your camera and lens if that information is easily available to you.

And please invite other Pentaxians to join us.

Some rules:
1) No theme, just post your favorite pix
2) Six or fewer images per person per thread to prevent thread bloat
3) Any Pentax, Ricoh or Samsung camera, film or digital

The current host will invite a new host via Private Message (PM), but if you are interested and willing to host POTW, please send me a PM, before I contact others.

Thank you StephenHampshire for agreeing to host this week! - I have a series of B&W photos to post. I went down to the old Main St of Beenleigh on Good Friday, and walked up and down for a couple of hours with my camera and Cosina lenses. I originally wanted to just take a few shots unfettered by people and also from the middle of the roads I often drive through while they were quiet. This exercise took on a life of it’s own as I walked up and down the street, and I ended up taking a good number of photos.

I used the Cosina 28mm f2.8 for most of these – the clock tower was taken using the Cosina 135mm f3.5, and the view across the field to the new Beenleigh Marketplace Mall the Cosina 24mm f2.8. I also used a Hoya Pro1D CPL for the first shot back over the old suburb, and then a Hoya 80B blue filter for the remaining photos. Most were at f8, but surprisingly I had to go to f16 for the clock tower.

Thanks for hosting StephenHampshire. What! No Trains? That first shot of yours can happily contribute to the mini theme of dragons over at I Spy thread. The Statue is superb! And like Nobody, I enjoy seeing your posts here rjbrett, Nobody, those are super shots of planes. Do you live near the airport, or a pilot, or work at the airport. Where I live, the best shots I can get is through windows at the viewing floor. Not exactly the best spot. A contribution from me.
Kloofendal Nature Reserve.

And to make up for my withdrawal symptoms at no trains

Warsaw airport is located within 10 kilometers away of city cennter so it is not a problem to go there. Moreover there are some viewpoints for spotters so if one knows which runway is in use for arrivals or departures it is quite easy to shoot really nice pics. One of my favourite is Boeing 777 of Emirates Airlines drying the runway after rain using thrust reversers.

Nothing special about these 2 images and definitely nothing special about my ability taking them, just that I took them and later after looking at them and cropping, my wife suggested that the Robin, Blackbird(and Pigeon) images were interesting.
The Robin took off. It is also posted on the yardbirds thread.
The Blackbird and Pigeon image at first glance look to be superimposed. Well I thought so.
The sun is back here in Hampshire so I must get out more!

Warsaw, Poland - beautiful city

Had a short stay at Warsaw on return flight, an amazingly beautiful city, great history and architecture
All of them captured on April 01 with K-5II, DA 18-135 and wide angle DA12-24. It was cloudy and cold with very low light.

I live in Warszawa so may be I should say: Man, You are damn right. But I will not. Warszawa is the shitty place to live as most of big cities in the world are.
