Posted By: eva, 05-21-2018, 10:36 AM

Welcome to the 502 edition of Picture of the Week (POTW), covering 14 May to 28 May 2018.

POTW is a great spot to show off six or fewer shots you take or are editing within the thread's date range. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

To post your great photos, just hit reply and attach away.

Feel free to start immediately.

Please:

• consider including in your post any special circumstances or tips on technique or equipment which might be interesting to others.

• identify your camera and lens if that information is easily available to you.

And please invite other Pentaxians to join us.

Some rules:
1) No theme, just post your favorite pix
2) Six or fewer images per person per thread to prevent thread bloat
3) Any Pentax, Ricoh or Samsung camera, film or digital

The current host will invite a new host via Private Message (PM), but if you are interested and willing to host POTW, please send me a PM, before I contact others.

If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one. If the thread doesn't start, please contact the host, via PM. Thanks for hosting Eva, wonderful opening shots there, that doggie will win first prize for cuteness .
A contribution from me, starting with a documentary shot of poverty in the famous Soweto. Squatter Camp, of which there are many in South Africa.

Thank you Eva for starting this thread again. That's a lot of detail in that first shot Noel, and corrugated iron.... I do like the second. I still have a number of photos to process from the summer, and have been having fun with a Cosina 24mm in the single in challenge. The first photo I am posting is an Eastern Striped Skink that has moved into the small patch of grass I've left unmown since before Xmas, taken with a Pentax DA 55-300. The second and third are Grey Banded Hoverflies in that grass, taken with a Vivitar AF 100mm f3.5 macro, and the fourth is grass heads caught in the first rays of early morning light using a Cosina 35mm f2.8 & Hoya ProND200 (7 stops) - I jiggled the camera a bit over the six second exposure . And the last two were taken with a Cosina 24mm f2.8 over the last week for the May "Single In" challenge;

Thanks very much, Eva, for hosting! And thanks to everyone for posting your very good images!

The images below were shot with my Pentax K-S2 and either a smc Pentax-F 1:4.5-5-6 35-80mm lens or a SMC Macro 1:4/100.

The vertical blurred image is another frame of the Coralburst Crabapple tree blossoms shown in the previous vertical image.

Comments and criticism are most welcome.

Best wishes!

The first and last are stunning Stu, and I like the effect in the second and third - can I ask if you've used an optical or digital filter for these?

Thanks very much!

For the first two images, I used Viveza 2 from the Nik Collection to adjust the background. For the last image, I might have sharpened a bit in Lightroom 4.

Hi all. A great week for POTW! I have a soft spot for wood storks. Fantastic dandelion, great tulips, two of the prettiest airplanes in service today and great band photos (the K-1 is still a couple of years out for me, but wow...).

I went to Yangshuo China last weekend. Stunning scenery but it was HOT. All of these were shot with my K-5 and 15mm ltd (which is odd, since most of the weekend I had my 16-85 on the camera...). The pano was stitched using Microsoft Image Composite Editor. A first for me but Photoshop Elements would not blend the photos. I'm quite impressed with the Microsoft product!
