Picture of the Week (POTW) # 506 - Covering 19 June to 2 July 2018
Posted By: Vaskebjorn, 06-26-2018, 10:00 AM

Welcome to the 506 edition of Picture of the Week (POTW), covering 19 June to 2 July 2018.

Eva asked me to take over the POTW, which i am happy to do. I will not include any pictures in the kick-off as i am on vacation and do not have any photos yet that qualify. But don’t let that stop any of you.

POTW is a great spot to show off six or fewer shots you take or are editing within the thread's date range. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

To post your great photos, just hit reply and attach away.

Feel free to start immediately.

Please:

• consider including in your post any special circumstances or tips on technique or equipment which might be interesting to others.

• identify your camera and lens if that information is easily available to you.

And please invite other Pentaxians to join us.

Some rules:
1) No theme, just post your favorite pix
2) Six or fewer images per person per thread to prevent thread bloat
3) Any Pentax, Ricoh or Samsung camera, film or digital

The current host will invite a new host via Private Message (PM), but if you are interested and willing to host POTW, please send me a PM, before I contact others.

If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one. If the thread doesn't start, please contact the host, via PM. Here are the records of recent POTW thread hosts: 390 smf, 391 smf, 392 smf, 393 smf, 394 smf, 395 smf, 396 smf, 397 smf, 398 smf, 399 smf, 400 smf, 401 smf, 402 smf, 403 smf, 404 smf, 405 smf, 406 smf,407 ramseybuckeye, 408 ramseybuckeye, 409 stubyles, 410 stubyles, 411 stubyles, 412-423 SD_Bob, 424-427 dave kitson 428-451 smf 452, 453, 454 StephenHampshire 455 Aslyfox, 456 StepehenHampshire, 457 noelcmn, 458 noelcmn, 459 noelcmn, 460 noelcmn, 461 noelcmn, 462 noelcmn, 463 noelcmn, 464 noelcmn, 465 noelcmn, 466 noelcmn, 467 Aslyfox, 469-470 aaacb 471 Madmathmind, 472 Madmathmind, 473 Eva, 474 rjbrett, 475 Aslyfox, 476 - 485 noelcmn, 486 - 488 rjbrett, 489 clackers, 490 - 498 rjbrett, 499 StephenHampshire 500 smf, 505 Eva

It is always surprising how these little bugs perform. Fortunately they are not allowed at the olympics 😀.
They would probably take away 99% of the medals.

Nice catch, especially because you basically have two colors and the colors compliment each other perfectly.

Thanks for hosting Vaskebjorn. Nice series that Stu. And that sure is a colorful alley aaacb. A contribution from me- from yet another visit to Kloofendal Nature Reserve, always something new for me there. On this occasion it was the sighting of this Greater Double Collared Sunbird.

The Dassie decided to pose for me

A Frog made its appearance, unusual for this time of the year. It should be underground

I played with my lost marbles on Sunday

I just happened to like the seeds of a Green Pepper

And nice to find some insects.

Also a nice series Noelcmn,

You have very beautiful wildlife in South Africa. But i think i like the last photo the most. Very colorful and simple set-up, which I like a lot.

The grandboys stopped by

And helped with my POTW.

First shot wasn’t quite lined up correctly. It was fun showing them the different points of focus, depending on which car they were looking at.

I’ve given one of my Pentax K1000s to them, and it took a while to figure out that they couldn’t look at the shot instantly.

Nice photos and colors, how did you process them? Is it the lens' natural rendition or pp? I like the slightly muted tones, especially for the last picture.

White balance - Daylight
Reversal Film setting.
I crop and do an “auto correct” in iPad Lightroom app. That’s it.

Here’s the shot before auto correct

I use LR on my ipad for almost all of my editing. For some I use Silkipix on my Mac. But LR on the ipad just works great in my opinion.

The water fountain was also posted as part of the single in challenge, and the geranium on the Yashica lens club thread.

Hi rjbrett,

I really like these flower photos, i am a bit of a fan of strong color contrast and that i very manageable with flowers. Another advantage is that flowers are really patient and sit still reasonably well .

To be honest, i never heard of a yashica lens before, must be an oldy.
