Picture of the Week (POTW) # 508 - Covering 9 July to 24 July 2018
Posted By: Vaskebjorn, 07-19-2018, 03:18 AM

Welcome to the 508th edition of Picture of the Week (POTW), covering 9 July to 24 July 2018.

I will not include any pictures in the kick-off as do not have any photos yet that qualify. But don’t let that stop any of you. I liked last weeks hosting a lot seeing all these marvelous photos and I am confident this time there will be beautiful ones to.

POTW is a great spot to show off six or fewer shots you take or are editing within the thread's date range. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

To post your great photos, just hit reply and attach away.

Feel free to start immediately.

Please:

• consider including in your post any special circumstances or tips on technique or equipment which might be interesting to others.

• identify your camera and lens if that information is easily available to you.

And please invite other Pentaxians to join us.

Some rules:
1) No theme, just post your favorite pix
2) Six or fewer images per person per thread to prevent thread bloat
3) Any Pentax, Ricoh or Samsung camera, film or digital

The current host will invite a new host via Private Message (PM), but if you are interested and willing to host POTW, please send me a PM, before I contact others.

If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one. If the thread doesn't start, please contact the host, via PM. Here are the records of recent POTW thread hosts: 390 smf, 391 smf, 392 smf, 393 smf, 394 smf, 395 smf, 396 smf, 397 smf, 398 smf, 399 smf, 400 smf, 401 smf, 402 smf, 403 smf, 404 smf, 405 smf, 406 smf,407 ramseybuckeye, 408 ramseybuckeye, 409 stubyles, 410 stubyles, 411 stubyles, 412-423 SD_Bob, 424-427 dave kitson 428-451 smf 452, 453, 454 StephenHampshire 455 Aslyfox, 456 StepehenHampshire, 457 noelcmn, 458 noelcmn, 459 noelcmn, 460 noelcmn, 461 noelcmn, 462 noelcmn, 463 noelcmn, 464 noelcmn, 465 noelcmn, 466 noelcmn, 467 Aslyfox, 469-470 aaacb 471 Madmathmind, 472 Madmathmind, 473 Eva, 474 rjbrett, 475 Aslyfox, 476 - 485 noelcmn, 486 - 488 rjbrett, 489 clackers, 490 - 498 rjbrett, 499 StephenHampshire 500 smf, 501 StephenHampshire, 502 Eva, 503, Eva, 504 Eva, 505 Eva, 506-508 Vaskebjorn

Received three rolls of film from the lab, this is the first I scanned. Fireworks from this year's July 4.

I shot these on Kodak Gold 400, KM camera, FA 43 lens. I used either f11 aperture and 1s shutter, or f16 and about 2s (guessed in bulb mode, because the KM camera I used has the slowest shutter setting 1s).

Thanks for hosting, Vaskebjorn.

The two creative blurs below were captured with an older Pentax 100mm macro lens on my K-S2. The first is of a hydrangea. The second is hosta leaves.

The images of great egrets were captured near sunset with a Tokina 500mm mirror lens on the tripod-mounted K-S2.

Thanks for hosting again Vaskebjorn. A contribution from me

Was able to get quite close to this Spotted Thick Knee, with my car. If I approach them on foot, they will be gone in no time.

Always keen on insects, even if they are few and far between these days of winter

A fly using fill in flash and at F/38

Misty morning the other day

Zoo Lake always affords photo opportunities, even if I am there 5 days a week

And I always stop for street art or make a point of visiting it again if I do not have the camera with me

Shades of Orange

I have been lurking on the forum for ages now, I thought this would be a good time to start participating a bit more. A little orange flower that I noticed growing at the base of a street lamp, it caught my attention for it's beautiful colors in an otherwise green surrounding.

I sat some crystals on top of an LED flashlight and shot these using an M120 with a Raynox 150. First, fluorite, second labradorite, and third, sunstone (quartz and rose quartz). Sunstone was with the Raynox 250.

I like the Schiller effect so much that my installed countertops are of labradorite.

I'm not a rabid flagwaver, but I have to say that plane with flag out the window photo is mega-cool! (I just made up this word.)

The plane is indde a cool picture, but i also like the shrimp. Although if gou want to go even more macro you might want to try the shrimps we have here in the Netherlands. These are way smaller.

Thanks. It was at an airshow/fireworks event in Atchinson, Kansas.

How small is it? The one I posted one of my baby cherry shrimps in my tank. Few millimeters in length. (~5mm?)

Smallest thing that I've been successful in taking a photo for with the ultra macro lens were the shrimps when they were still eggs.
