#431 - "Why?"
Posted By: SpecialK, 08-30-2018, 06:30 PM

Welcome to Weekly Challenge #431 - "Why?" Why this, why that?

The Challenge will run until midnight next Thursday, September 6, California time.

Rules
1. Post ONE photo only.
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and, optionally, explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

My examples. If they are too big, go in your account settings and edit the display size.

All the entries are nice shots.

aaacb - I assume, and hope, this is an actor or performer, and not a fashion statement.

ramseybuckeye - that does make you wonder. It is a bit large for digging a grave or two.

Mark Ransom - the rules actually encourage an explanation (which I think is optional), and this one told some info you would not know by looking. I agree in reference to a joke, though.

RGlasel - I've never seen this sign before, so I googled it up.

Hattifnatt - I hope this is a recycling area in progress, and not someone's dumping ground.

noelcmn - Without being there, it is hard to tell if his pose was a fleeting thing, or he was lost in thought.

atupdate - a nice twist, though perhaps slightly away from the theme. I appreciate the humor.

JNic66 - Even if not lost in the woods, one might wonder about the specific design and what it meant to the owner.

Vaskeborn - a bit off-theme, but your caption makes it humorous.

Bruce Clark - I am unsure if you already cloned the obstacles from the building, or if they are the sticks in the water.

sundown060 - the slogans are appropriate for a marathon runner, but I bet the author had other motivation.

charliezap - a nice colorful shot of a humorous concept. I like the garnish.

3rd place goes to Jnic66. The image poses an unanswerable "why?".

2nd place goes to Ramseybuckeye and his defunct grave digger. There must be some scrap value, so indeed, "why?".

The this week's winner, and next weeks's host, is @RGlasel and his unassumed road.

Thanks for playing!

Thank you SpecialK for hosting and judging this contest. This will be my first time to host a weekly challenge, my question is now "what?" not "why?" I will look through my photo library tonight for inspiration and start a new challenge tomorrow.
