#432 - On the road
Posted By: RGlasel, 09-07-2018, 11:16 PM

First time hosting a challenge, so please bear with me. After looking at two year's worth of challenges, I can't think of a technique that hasn't been covered and I want to pick a theme that most people should be able to participate in. So, I'm looking for pictures that say something about people on the road. My definition of road is quite broad, even a footpath is a road in my book. This isn't "street photography," people need to be going somewhere and the road shouldn't be the main focus (the "road" doesn't even need to be in the frame).

The Challenge will run until midnight next Saturday, September 15, Saskatchewan time (UTC -6 hours).

Rules
1. Post ONE photo only.
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and, optionally, explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

Good luck and thanks in advance to everyone who enters this challenge!

I just wanted to congratulate the winners of this challenge, but also note that instead of just picking the winners; RGlasel actually critiqued the photos giving them his perspective which is very refreshing. Many times we just get a nod or thumb one way or another. It's like someone reading a book, I enjoyed the critique as much as the photos themselves. Thank you.

I have benefited from the comments of others in the past and I really appreciated the quality of entries for this challenge.

Thanks for your kind words. I think I need to work Ohio into a future travel itinerary, because my exposure so far has been limited to Toledo and Bowling Green and I'm pretty sure you couldn't have taken your photo in either of those locations.

LOL, I'm about an hour south of Bowling Green, which is located in the middle of the former "Great Black Swamp", which must be about the flattest part of America, Where I live is not quite that bad but close, anyway, topography varies greatly throughout the state.

Without giving too much away, the pieces of paper in the foreground are old photos. It’s a detail that kinda gets lost with a smaller format.
