POTW #28 14Sep08 - 27Sep08
Posted By: daacon, 09-21-2008, 09:43 AM

Welcome to POTW # 28

This week's photos will cover these dates: Sunday September 14th till September 27th.

Let's keep up the high standard of shots we have seen over the past weeks.

Rules as before:

1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week .
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Runs for 7 days. Sunday September 14th to September 20th.
5) Enter anything you shot last week or this current week until the thread closes.

Okay, it was too easy! But it might have worked if there were not those rocks...
I guessed it by the relative brightness of sky and bushes. I only saw the rocks when I looked at it upside down.

Bruce - ahhh you are going into Summer I envy you. Great beaches nice series. And nice doublemint twins priceless!

Borno - I like the bridge shot very nice.

k-xx-500-user - Wow quite a handle you have there - Welcome to POTW - a nice introduction you have as well. I like bridge shots and yours are good. Some really unique shots there. Well done.

Alan - Nice flowers , women (really notice the makeup on this one) and a haircut - now that is variety !

Georg - nice shot - love the lighting on the water - well done. As for the conundrum have to agree hard to tell but as stevebrot says inverted ?

Edit (damn answer came in while I was editting...good call Stevebrot!)

Thanks, Dave, however I am not looking forward to 40degC+ days ahead.
Already we are having between 25-30deg and its only early Spring.

Got out of bed at 5am this morning for this among others, however, looking at the results I dont know if it was really worth it.

My better half tells me I am getting too particular in my old age. Maybe she's right!!

Bruce - I think the early morning advernture was well worth it. Nice series

k-xx-500-user - looks like a little camera shake there - nice shots but yeah I can see the blur ...(and yes all previous shots were from a buisness trip to the Windy City - thanks for comments) and POTW is Picture Of The Week - started 28 weeks ago by Peter Zack - a good idea indeed.

Alan - nice Hog

Well for a different persective from me (No Chicago!) here are few more recent ones..

Some specs on the lens here click on image for larger view ...

Thanks Tran! I ike what you did! Just reveal the secret of that white background manipulation you have made, please! Did you just use a soft brush, to paint to the white?

I did one more myself, is you are interested:

Georg - You have never worked in a darkroom , haven't you ?

I used the Burn Tool . Use an exposure of 10% or less to avoid harsh burning . You can always go back and burn more . Use a bigger brush for a smoother burn . You don't have to burn the whole area . It's case by case . I saw the water so I was thinking of fog/vapor that could alter the light path . So there are some bright spots still but I think it works .

Thanks Tran, no and yes.. I use to follow my father workin in his darkroom developing and making prints from Kodak Tri-X, which was the forst film I ever used. But you are right, I have still much to learn in exposure. I found that this particular image, in RAW, can be well brought down in exposure, so I can actually save more of that white area but not all, so thanks for the lesson, only what Burn Tool are you referring? In Lightroom or in Photoshop?

I was just teasing you about the darkroom . We all have much to learn in some way . That's why I like this site . People help each other out . I used Photoshop .

A couple from last week in Colorado (for work, but I did get a couple of days of fun in...). Nothing fancy, just playing around with my old glass on the K100D (SMC-M 50 f2).

I already posted in the other one.
It's not my fault you left the door open, of course I'm going to walk in.
I know you're too much of a gentleman to be biased in your decision making Dave and
my shots were taken in the time frame.
