Posted By: Vaskebjorn, 09-17-2018, 10:59 AM

Welcome to the 515th edition of Picture of the Week (POTW), covering 12 September to 23 September 2018.

Due to circumstances I will not include some photos of my own, but This week I obviously do expect to see a lot of fantastic photos. I liked last weeks hosting a lot seeing all these marvelous photos and I am confident this time there will be beautiful ones to.

POTW is a great spot to show off six or fewer shots you take or are editing within the thread's date range. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

To post your great photos, just hit reply and attach away.

Feel free to start immediately.

Please:

consider including in your post any special circumstances or tips on technique or equipment which might be interesting to others.

identify your camera and lens if that information is easily available to you.

And please invite other Pentaxians to join us.

Some rules:
1) No theme, just post your favorite pix
2) Six or fewer images per person per thread to prevent thread bloat
3) Any Pentax, Ricoh or Samsung camera, film or digital

The current host will invite a new host via Private Message (PM), but if you are interested and willing to host POTW, please send me a PM, before I contact others.

Thanks for hosting again-I'm sure you've set a new record for hosting Vaskebjorn. And fab stuff there aaacb. Also like those flying horses.
A contribution from me. First two are Christmas Decorations- already coming out-at a Cerebral Pulsy center for adults. Reversed B/W

Practicing some Macro Flower stuff- 18-55mm Kit lens with the Screw on Magnifying glass

Another visit to Kloofendal Nature Reserve was not as rewarding as usually is the case, but it was windy, strong winds really, and still the case even today- that's 3 days in a row we've had such strong winds. Anyway, I tried some swallows an even with them struggling against the wind, not as successful as I would have liked

All day ecclesiastical meeting on Saturday, and during a break, I took a couple of shots, this of a fellow pastor in a moment of concentration-not that we were not doing that all day!

Hi Noelcmn,

This is again a beautiful photoseries from your hand. The macrophotos look very good and mentioning what it is helps a lot. My favorite though is the photo of the pastor. I think it is a very strong photo. It looks like he is reading a book/bible without that being in the photo.

As to my hosting, i think there are more who reached 10 times, but volunteers can always reach out

Thanks to Vaskebjorn for hosting again, and thanks to all who post in these threads.

Here are three of the many images I shot at Dahlia Hill, which is planted and maintained by volunteers in Midland, Michigan, U.S.A. I used my handheld K-S2 and SMC Pentax-F 1:4.5-5.6 100-300mm.

Best wishes,
Stu

Good floral series Stu, flowers always seen to be able to give beautiful colors to a scene. My favorite one is the butterfly photo though. I really like the setup of that one where the flower and butterfly are focused and the rest is pushed in the background.

Hi all. I spent last weekend in Seoul, Korea, where I spent a wonderful 3.5 years starting in mid-2008. I loved living in Seoul and it's still hard to leave (I bought my first Pentax DSLR, a K200D at a duty free shop at Incheon Airport!). Yesterday was Chuseok in Korea (a bit like Thanksgiving in the U.S.). Typically everything in Seoul is less busy around Chuseok. The down-side was that our favorite restaurant was closed for the weekend...

1, 2 and 4 were taken at a parade in Insadong, which is a pretty touristy area. 3 was in Bukchon, which is famous for its traditional houses (Hanok). Hanbok, the traditional dress that the girls were wearing, are available for rent in the area; wearers of traditional dress are given free admission to palaces etc. in the area and it makes for a very cool experience and provides great photo ops. The last photo is Namdaemun, also known as Sungnyemun, the old south gate of the city. This gate was burned by an arsonist in early 2008, and the entire time I lived in Seoul it was hidden behind barriers while under reconstruction.

All photos were taken with my K-5 and DA 16-85 zoom (the only lens I brought on this trip). If you can only take one lens this is a good one...
