# 519 - Covering 15 October to 21 October 2018
Posted By: Vaskebjorn, 10-16-2018, 03:37 AM

Welcome to the 519th edition of Picture of the Week (POTW), covering 15 October to 21 October 2018.

I have to start of with a double apology this week. First for not commenting on last weeks photos, due to some medical things on my mind it had to take a little bit of a backseat. Secondly for starting a day late. I was still processing the photos for inclusion in this mail, but I had 975 to sort out and process. On the other hand you are getting a proper kiwi (the bird that is, not the fruit) in my series this week. It might even be a first.
I liked last weeks hosting a lot seeing all these marvelous photos and I am confident this time there will be beautiful ones to.

POTW is a great spot to show off six or fewer shots you take or are editing within the thread's date range. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

To post your great photos, just hit reply and attach away.

Feel free to start immediately.

Please:

• consider including in your post any special circumstances or tips on technique or equipment which might be interesting to others.

• identify your camera and lens if that information is easily available to you.

And please invite other Pentaxians to join us.

Some rules:
1) No theme, just post your favorite pix
2) Six or fewer images per person per thread to prevent thread bloat
3) Any Pentax, Ricoh or Samsung camera, film or digital

The current host will invite a new host via Private Message (PM), but if you are interested and willing to host POTW, please send me a PM, before I contact others.

If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one. If the thread doesn't start, please contact the host, via PM. Here are the records of recent POTW thread hosts: 390 smf, 391 smf, 392 smf, 393 smf, 394 smf, 395 smf, 396 smf, 397 smf, 398 smf, 399 smf, 400 smf, 401 smf, 402 smf, 403 smf, 404 smf, 405 smf, 406 smf,407 ramseybuckeye, 408 ramseybuckeye, 409 stubyles, 410 stubyles, 411 stubyles, 412-423 SD_Bob, 424-427 dave kitson 428-451 smf 452, 453, 454 StephenHampshire 455 Aslyfox, 456 StepehenHampshire, 457 noelcmn, 458 noelcmn, 459 noelcmn, 460 noelcmn, 461 noelcmn, 462 noelcmn, 463 noelcmn, 464 noelcmn, 465 noelcmn, 466 noelcmn, 467 Aslyfox, 469-470 aaacb 471 Madmathmind, 472 Madmathmind, 473 Eva, 474 rjbrett, 475 Aslyfox, 476 - 485 noelcmn, 486 - 488 rjbrett, 489 clackers, 490 - 498 rjbrett, 499 StephenHampshire 500 smf, 501 StephenHampshire, 502 Eva, 503, Eva, 504 Eva, 505 Eva, 506-519 Vaskebjorn

Thanks for hosting again, Vaskebjorn, and for posting your delightful images.

All of my images below were captured with my Pentax K-S2. For the image of ducks, "Stand-up Guy," I used a Tokina 500mm f/8 mirror lens and a tripod. Settings were 1/2000 and ISO800.

For the other images — captured at the Northwood University International Auto Show in Midland, Michigan — I used an SMC Pentax DAL 1:3.5-5.6 18-55mm AL.

Settings were:
Lingenfelter Corvette Hood ISO 800 35mm f/6.3 1/250

Reflection of Fall ISO 800 30.6mm f/16 1/25

Simulating Speed ISO 100 37.5 mm f.5.6 1 second

Nice series again smf. I am a bit torn between the ducks and the “big T”. To make life a bit easier I decided not to choose between the two

Thanks for hosting again Vaskebjorn, and agree with smf, delightful images you've posted, that Turaco is wonderful! As are those from smf and Eva! That B/W one is superb Eva!
So I met with WPRESTO again on the last day of their holiday in Southern Africa, and he and his wife M had a few hours in between flights, so I whisked them off to Rietvlei Nature Reserve for a quick photo session- its only about 30 minutes from the airport, and we had about 3 hours to spend together. A wonderful time was had, thoroughly enjoyable company, and of course we clicked away merrily. Some very nice sighting too! These are from that short visit. The highlight being these 6 White Rhino

Northern Black Korhaan

Hi Eva,
you could knit one very very big or alternatively very fast sweater. Very colorful also, but my favorite is the two framed lady’s. Perfect setting and the black and white adds to that.

Great wildlfe shots again Noelcmn and always good to go out shooting while in very good company.
I really like the rhinos. There are not that many “roaming free” in the Netherlands
But my favorite is the Korhaan shouting “oh no tourists”.

Great series LeCat,

I can not remember seeing you here before, although I could haved missed it. Anyway, wlecome in POTW. My favortite shot would be the beachsailer, a good actionshot. If you are ever in the Netherlands in winter and it happens to be very very cold you can see people doing it here, but on then on ice. Very spectacular and very fast.
