Weekly Challenge #453 "Time For Contemplation"
Posted By: Kerrowdown, 03-23-2019, 10:27 AM

A big thank you to Stephen Hampshire, for hosting last weeks challenge and for passing the baton onto me for this week.

The fresh challenge I've picked for this week hopefully has some potential depth to it and also some room for interpretation on the theme... "Time For Contemplation".

Quickly here's the ongoing rules...

1. Post ONE photo (max 1024x1024).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax/Ricoh (DSLR) camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge

The challenge will close at midnight Saturday Friday 30th March GMT i.e 7 days and 6 hours ish from this post.

Here's an image from me to get the ball rolling.

You chose a difficult toppic i think. Maybe even more difficult to judge .

My take is this one. Two old men sitting on a “bench in the park” thinking about life.

A Moment of Privacy

I had the privilege of being the photographer for the hand fasting of two of my best friends. After the ceremony and before the party, the couple wanted to spend some quiet time in their fairy garden.

The challenge is specifically a "time" not a place, for contemplation, so what better time to contemplate one's future (or past?) than at one's wedding? (Disclaimer: my only connection to this wedding, other than my attendance, was that my son was a groomsman. )

Always be there for you where ever you are

I must admit this is not a sharp or super saturated photo , it is just an image. Yet I struggle with myself when I take such a photograph of people (not very often). The photo was taken innocently as everyone was enjoying the parade

Taken several years ago on Memorial Day weekend. I took this at a distance so that I wouldn't intrude on his "Time for Contemplation.--charliezap

Some of you may know one of my "things" is celebrity gravemarkers. This one is Hillel Slovak, of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. When I was looking for him, I sort of kept my distance from this woman who was lying face down at a marker. I circled in closer as she was in the only area left to look in. Sure enough, she was at Hillel's marker. I asked if she was a friend or family and she said "I'm not sure what I am." I offered to take her photo, and sent her a copy. On one or two later visits, I would see her at the grave, but I did not stop to chat with her. Later, she emailed me (and sent a photo?) of the gravemarker - she had painted all the raised portions in gold paint - it looked good.

Graveyards do give one pause for thought and contemplation of mortality
