POTW #542 covering period 18-31 March 2019
Posted By: aaacb, 03-25-2019, 05:15 PM

Welcome to the 542st edition of Picture of the Week (POTW), covering 18 to 31 March 2019. Let's see what you have been shooting these past two weeks. POTW is a great spot to show off six or fewer shots you take or are editing within the thread's date range. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

To post your great photos, just hit reply and attach away.

Feel free to start immediately.

Please:

• consider including in your post any special circumstances or tips on technique or equipment which might be interesting to others.

• identify your camera and lens if that information is easily available to you.

And please invite other Pentaxians to join us.

Some rules:
1) No theme, just post your favorite pix
2) Six or fewer images per person per thread to prevent thread bloat
3) Any Pentax, Ricoh or Samsung camera, film or digital

The current host will invite a new host via Private Message (PM), but if you are interested and willing to host POTW, please send me a PM, before I contact others.

If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one. If the thread doesn't start, please contact the host, via PM. Here are the records of recent POTW thread hosts: 390-406 smf, 407-408ramseybuckeye, 409-411 stubyles, 412-423 SD_Bob, 424-427 dave kitson 428-451 smf 452, 453, 454 StephenHampshire 455 Aslyfox, 456 StepehenHampshire, 457-466 noelcmn, 467 Aslyfox, 469-470 aaacb 471 Madmathmind, 472 Madmathmind, 473 Eva, 474 rjbrett, 475 Aslyfox, 476 - 485 noelcmn, 486 - 488 rjbrett, 489 clackers, 490 - 498 rjbrett, 499 StephenHampshire 500 smf, 501 StephenHampshire, 502-505 Eva, 506-525 Vaskebjorn, 526-538 noelcmn, 539-541 aaacb

---------- Post added 03-25-19 at 08:20 PM ----------

This is a first for me since I started contributing to POTW, but here's a camera brand other than Pentax*

A couple of test shots

And one that I like more than the other two, it's not posed.

* It's a silly and roundabout way of saying I got the new GR III, my first camera in the series or of this type, and it's been a great week learning to use it.

Thanks for hosting again aaacb, and I like your middle shot-super street shot! And he does look a bit harassed . And that Green Door is lovely Merv-O. Jcdoss , delighted that my arm twisting from last week has worked a charm The last one is ever so nice! And what can I say about those delightful Hong Kong pics of Nosliwmit, so different to my reality.
Here's a contribution from me, starting with my current favorite from a quick visit to Johannesburg Zoo, to collect an document. Manual focus needed as the AF kept focusing on the wire.

And a message about life

And this fella decided to make my shoe its home

Autumn is here

A quick visit to an antique shop on Sunday for another project

Have not seen a Robber Fly for a while in the home garden, so delighted to come across this one. They are regular visitors to the garden

As are grasshoppers, this one seems have had a poo poo problem

Certainly looks to be suiting you - how did that tripod and ball head go?

The weekly pics here just keep looking better....

Thanks yes, it's a camera I enjoy greatly, I just went on a hike with it the other day as a lightweight alternative (hike was too hard to also bring my k3ii)

About the tripod, it works well, I only used it a couple of times because of the same weight restriction. Though, as soon as I won't need to carry a minimum of 4 extra pounds of winter gear, having the tripod should feel light as a feather in my backpack

Nice! I've always had a soft spot for insects and arachnids. Have you read anything about the insect armageddon? It's disturbing and more cause to celebrate these guys!

Even though I'm not fond of insects, I understand their importance in our ecosystem. I prefer scenery and people...everyone has their niche I guess.

Yes, quite disturbing really! Though it is not my motivation, I just simply love macro! And insects.

Early April Early Morning Moon

24-day old moon shot on April 1, 2019 from the western shore of Lake Winnebago in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The moon had just emerged from a cloud bank. Used a K-70 at F5.6, 240mm Sigman DG lens (70-300mm 1:4-5.6). Exposure or 1/50th of a second at ISO 400.

Roger, welcome to the forum...On these "POTW threads--Picture of the Week", once the date is reached, the next POTW is listed. Go to the "Home" icon on the top left of the Forum banner and look for the latest "Photo Challenges" and post your April 1-7 photos there. That is a lovely photo, but fewer people will see it now that the thread is moving forward to the next "POTW".

It would be quite awesome if the OP would post a closing message: The new thread is open > link. This thread is now closed. Makes handling bookmarked threads a lot easier. thanks!

PS: The new thread is open here. :-)
