POTW #551 covering period 27 May - 9 Jun 2019
Posted By: eva, 06-02-2019, 04:51 AM

Welcome to the 551th edition of Picture of the Week (POTW), covering 27 May-9 June 2019. Let's see what you have been shooting these past two weeks. POTW is a great spot to show off six or fewer shots you take or are editing within the thread's date range. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

To post your great photos, just hit reply and attach away. Feel free to start immediately.

Please:

• consider including in your post any special circumstances or tips on technique or equipment which might be interesting to others.

• identify your camera and lens if that information is easily available to you.

And please invite other Pentaxians to join us.

Some rules:
1) No theme, just post your favorite pix
2) Six or fewer images per person per thread to prevent thread bloat
3) Any Pentax, Ricoh or Samsung camera, film or digital

The current host will invite a new host via Private Message (PM), but if you are interested and willing to host POTW, please send me a PM, before I contact others.

If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one. If the thread doesn't start, please contact the host, via PM. Here are the records of recent POTW thread hosts: 390-406 smf, 407-408ramseybuckeye, 409-411 stubyles, 412-423 SD_Bob, 424-427 dave kitson 428-451 smf 452, 453, 454 StephenHampshire 455 Aslyfox, 456 StepehenHampshire, 457-466 noelcmn, 467 Aslyfox, 469-470 aaacb 471 Madmathmind, 472 Madmathmind, 473 Eva, 474 rjbrett, 475 Aslyfox, 476 - 485 noelcmn, 486 - 488 rjbrett, 489 clackers, 490 - 498 rjbrett, 499 StephenHampshire 500 smf, 501 StephenHampshire, 502-505 Eva, 506-525 Vaskebjorn, 526-538 noelcmn, 539-545 aaacb

Thanks very much to Eva for hosting and for posting her images!

Instead of the macro gear I usually use, I recently twice grabbed my Vivitar 1:3.5 100mm MC Auto Focus Macro with Matched Macro Adaptor (1:1) — which I bought as used equipment. Some of these images were captured with the Matched Macro Adaptor attached. I removed that adaptor for the shot of eight mushrooms and the last image, Raindrops on Iris Blooms.

The camera, a Pentax K-S2, was on a tripod for that last image, which was captured indoors.

I am very pleased that master macrophotographer Mike Moats selected the first image — of raindrops on an iris leaf —as the cover image for his Macro Photo Club page at Facebook for one day last week.

I welcome comments and criticism of my images — by PM if you prefer that over posting in this thread.

Warmest wishes!
Stu

A few macro photos with the k3ii and 100wr. The light was warm and soft, sunset coming through a thin layer of clouds

But mostly I've used the GRIII in the past week, first photos of flowers

and people from the commute

Thanks for hosting again Eva - the detail and texture on those squirrels and the pigeon (always difficult) looks perfect to me. I'm also finding your first and third photos very appealing aaacb .

I had to take my car in for an air bag replacement, and took my takumars and K5 for a walk while I waited. Missed focus on two photos (out of practice?) so had to drop by again on Saturday to take them again. The first and fourth photo were taken with a Super Takumar 35mm f3.5, the second with a Super Takumar 28mm f3.5, and the third and fifth with an Auto Takumar 55mm f1.8. It's taken me a while to warm to the Auto Tak but I'm liking the rendering in these photos.

Thanks for hosting again Eva, and just love that opening shot! Its FAB! Great shots everyone, smf, you can justly be proud of that first shot-wonderful! aaacb, super Macro shots, like the 3rd one best, such lovely color to that one. Merv-O-horses are so nice to capture hey! Like that 2nd one in particular. rjbrett "out of practice"- say what? The silo one is very nice, but being a fellow that likes street art, No 1 gets my vote.
A contribution from me- most from the Daily In Challenge. I;ll join the chorus of Macro Flower shots around here.

Abstractions

My favourite model at the Shelter where I work

Autumn and winter grips

One for Merv-O

And practised a few night shots, without a tripod, but I used the fence/rail to rest the camera on, for this long exposure. Not too bad!
