Thanks for starting us off again Eva!

This past weekend was the big weekend for dragon-boating in Hong Kong. Teams from all over the world participated and it looked like a good time was had by all. I am lucky enough to live within walking distance of one of the race venues so I watched a few races yesterday morning before it got too hot and I had to retire to the pool.

3rd Jewel of the Triple Crown & the Pride of New York Racing--June 8, 2019 ( I was unable to bring my K-1 in as there are restrictions on cameras--I took my Leica 4/3rd's D-Lux (typ 109) and did the best I could)….Congrats to longshot 'Sir WInston'

Thanks for hosting Eva. I like that opening shot, shouts happiness! And like No 3 especially nosliwmit, and the 2nd one from aaacb is just fantastic! Merv-O, fantastic shots there too, like that crowd shot. and also the horses. May be worth exploring a crop on the horses. Smf, I agree with Eva, bring them on! Delicious bokeh on that 1st shot!
Before the week runs away with me, I'd better post, as I am headed for a super busy weekend. I had my 170-500mm lens repaired, and though it is still not fixed (no focus on infinity) it is much better than it was, and seems much sharper. I took it for a spin today. I shall need it for my upcoming holiday in Port Elizabeth, which will include a few days in Addo Elephant National Park. These are from today's test run






And from the other day- shot with the 10-20mm Sigma Lens that WPRESTO so kindly gave me. Beneath the rotating washing line, camera on the floor on 12 sec self-timer.

This from the first batch, after I got the Sigma 170-500mm lens back on Saturday. That was when I noticed a problem- not showing the f/stop on the camera and no inifinity. I took it back on Monday and got it back today.


And some heavy PP to get this effect.

In one of these images, a red-winged blackbird has confronted the egret. Perhaps the blackbird was protecting a nest. In that image, the egret has something in its beak. I think it is a fish.

used that lens because Rockies require lens to be no more than 6 inches. I locked down lens to shortest length for inspection and no problem. I recommend photographers enter via Gate E since if your equipment does not comply with rules the only thing you can do is either store it in your vehicle or there is a tent at Gate E where you can " check " the item for pick up after the game.
