Welcome to Weekly Challenge #463 - Powerful Black & White

Thank you to Vaskebjorn for hosting and your kind words, also for selecting my image as the winner, you've certainly caught me on the hop here for setting next weeks challenge, but here goes...

My first love has always been B&W... maybe cos I'm so old, colour hadn't been invented when I started photography.

So for this weeks challenge, lets see those images that ooze power by their very presence, images that wow and pop while being devoid of colour, Split toning, Sepia treatments and the like are allowed.

Here's a few of mine which I hope convey what I mean for this challenge.

The Challenge will run from now until midnight Tuesday 9th July 2019, I'll judge and post results the following day. Every week, a new theme is picked and judged by the winner of the previous week.

Rules
1. Post ONE photo.
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

Taken with a K-30 and my 28mm f2.8 before I sold it. ,At a Veterans Park which was close to where I live: The park started out as a Veterans park for those who fought in Vietnam, then years later became a park for all wars.

Pentax 67.
The thunder and lightning was impressive from the lookout. Soon as I could tell it wasn't coming our way I climbed out to this vantage point. But by time I got there the lightning moved further away and the clouds obstructed the show from the long exposure.

I just don't see in monochromes, to me taking the colour out of a photo is like reducing a tiramisu cake to piles of flour and sugar, but if I want to play the game, I have to follow the rules. Lightroom's B&W conversion with a digital orange filter applied.
