Project 52, Week 20 - Sign of the Times
Posted By: DanLoc78, 10-11-2008, 11:32 AM

Capture a sign that is indicative of a certain time period. Antique signs, modern signs or scenes/situations, up to you. Explain in your description what era your capture represents or how it relates to modern times.

Rules:

1. Anyone and everyone who is interested in eligible
2. Make an attempt to effectively capture the theme of the week
3. Post your single picture in this thread, and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color saturation) but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. let's try to keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves
5. There is one theme labeled black and white, but feel free to post black and white, sepia, etc. for any of the other themes
6. Have fun, provide constructive and friendly criticism, and fire away
7. You may post pictures taken before the current active week; however, only photos captured during the active week will be judged.

This week's theme "Sign of the Times" will run from today until Sunday, October 19th.

Sign of the Times

Walking in a local park, I couldn't but help see the relationship of this sign to the current economic weed patch. Won't be much golfing for many.

I realized that as I am the winner of the last P52 challenge, I should judge this one, so come and post your entries, we cannot let mithrandir get it too easy

This is just for the bump, and is not included in the race, but it somehow represents the tide on current time - behind the sign there was a glamorous private yacht in dock - the rich are protected!

Obvious sign

A sign that is more than obvious. Do I need to be told to leave a snake alone???
Considering the snakes in the area are all rather venomous? I think not

This wasn't taken this week, but it was a sign outside of a leather working shop in the old city of Cordoba.

Dahlia Hill

This is one of the most tasteful signs I've seen.

It is in Midland, Michigan, at the site of a garden where more than 200 varieties are planted. Volunteers do the work, and admission is free.

Overstating the Obvious

Some good ones all - here is a sign of the times - having to state the obvious - this is a walkway over a small creek that is about 6 feet wide on a path that would be almost impossible for traffic to access - yet apparently cars are ok just no trucks

This is the best image I took with a sign this week:

Way in the back you can just see the top of the town's WWII memorial...

Veterans Park, Havertown, PA

A plaque on the grounds of Veterans Park, which is near my house in Havertown. Serves as a constant reminder of the past as well as current conflicts.

That is a great shot. So funny and I bet that this only happens in Australia.
