Welcome to the 562 edition of Picture of the Week (POTW), covering 12 Aug - 26 Aug 2019. Let's see what you have been shooting these past two weeks. POTW is a great spot to show off six or fewer shots you take or are editing within the thread's date range. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

To post your great photos, just hit reply and attach away. Feel free to start immediately.

Please:

• consider including in your post any special circumstances or tips on technique or equipment which might be interesting to others.

• identify your camera and lens if that information is easily available to you.

And please invite other Pentaxians to join us.

Thanks for hosting again Eva-I'm liking your bird shots.

Keeping up the birds theme- and ever so cute

The weavers are frantically building nests, This one near the one he built and waiting for the females to come for an inspection

The aptly named Thick or Broad Billed Weaver

Wattled Lapwing taking flight at the approach of some dogs at a local park

And I got two jumping spiders on Saturday

And we've been having some fantastic weather, loads of sunshine, making for some nice backlit subjects

Below are two of the many photos I shot during the first morning of the Gus Macker three-on-three basketball tournament in downtown Midland, Michigan. The annual tournament for children and adults is a fundraiser for The Arc of Midland and for the Northwood University men's basketball program. I am a volunteer photographer for The Arc of Midland, which serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

I used my Pentax K-S2 with Takumar-F 28-80 mm 1:3.5-4.5.

Wouldn't consider myself a birder, but when I encounter them, I'm certainly drawn to them, with or without a camera. So much so that my wife arranged an "avian" birthday gift for me, which meant that I could take part in a mini-workshop "Photographing birds of prey". The images were all done using the at times rather poor ambient - as the day happened to be rainy - but in the end, the diffuse light even helped to bring out detail that might have been lost in harsh sunlight. Unfortunately, it turned out my BIF skills weren't quite up to the task, but I did come home with a number of reasonably decent bird portraits.
