Posted By: eva, 04-06-2020, 02:04 AM

Welcome to the 592th edition of Picture of the Week (POTW), covering period 30 March - 12 April 2020. Let's see what you have been shooting these past two weeks. POTW is a great spot to show off six or fewer shots you take or are editing within the thread's date range. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last 2 weeks.

To post your great photos, just hit reply and attach away. Feel free to start immediately.

Please:

• consider including in your post any special circumstances or tips on technique or equipment which might be interesting to others.

• identify your camera and lens if that information is easily available to you.

And please invite other Pentaxians to join us.

Some rules:
1) No theme, just post your favorite pix
2) Six or fewer images per person per thread to prevent thread bloat
3) Any Pentax, Ricoh or Samsung camera, film or digital

The current host will invite a new host via Private Message (PM), but if you are interested and willing to host POTW, please send me a PM, before I contact others.

If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one. If the thread doesn't start, please contact the host, via PM. Blessed to have a job where I can work from home while social distancing.... This allows for a lot more enjoyment of the birth of springtime than if I were stuck in the office every day. Also, getting a lot of my little home improvement projects done as well.

Here's three photos from my front yard. The grape hyacinths are just beginning to get colorful, the forsythia forms a gateway to neighboring farms, and the daffodils have been going strong for a couple weeks.

Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. The ridge beyond the farm is where the Appalachian Trail meanders through our neck of the woods.

Thanks for starting us off again Eva!

All of these were taken with my K-1 II and FA 100mm macro.

I saw this tiny fungus on a tree the other day and only after taking photos realized there was more to it than met the eye:

Evidently the critters munching on the fungus are globular springtails (they are very small):

Not sure what this guy was. On my patio and looking worse for wear (missing part of a wing). Gorgeous colors though:

And here's a beauty shot of the same critter:

I think this is frog spawn (eggs) but I haven't been able to verify it. It's in a tree hanging over a swimming pool.

Thanks for hosting Eva, wonderful stuff in this weeks edition of POTW. Welcome Gergich and Arkansawer. Nosliwmit- That insect is the same as the one I posted in the last POTW- Hawkmoth, you would have to check which one occurs in your area. Possibly Hemaris radians or Hemaris beresowskii or Hemaris affinis. I am inclined to go with the last mentioned.
A contribution from me. The first image I wanted to capture the idea of lockdown or isolationism. That's me in our little church

This big moth was there to greet me one morning in the home

I've discovered that this is the larvae of a moth

And the insects in the garden is keeping me sane

And so too was this newborn gecko

And I guess like everyone else, home stuff of all sorts will make an appearance

And I found a young Jumping spider on the security door- coaxed into my hand

Isolated and Homebound

You all have created such great photos. I am in New Jersey locked down between Philadelphia and South Jersey. Nonetheless, i offer you what I could muster under the lockdown, paling in comparison to the beautiful shots and macro photos of my colleagues, I nonetheless, trudge on:

1. Howard hanging in the back yard enjoying the cool grass
2. Pic of the budding flora waiting in line at the Wendy's Drive-Thru, Pennsauken, NJ
3. Virtual Passover set-up prior to the tele-seder.
4. Social distancing
5. The COVID-19 wall of TP

Hopefully, I'll be in better spirits with more refined and interesting snaps next period. Cheers and stay safe.

Early Spring Birds at the Beach

This is my submission. I was out at the lake the other day, and the birds were out on the mostly sunny day.

Thanks Eva.

The Sigma 150-500 DG OS for Pentax is capable of quite a lot if the proper method is used. If mine was available, I would let you know. I bought it before the Pentax 150-450 was available, otherwise I would have gotten the Pentax 150-450.

Have a great day.

Casey
