Posted By: nosliwmit, 05-25-2020, 02:52 AM

Welcome to the 598th edition of Picture of the Week (POTW), covering period 18 May through 31 May 2020. Let's see what you have been shooting these past two weeks. POTW is a great spot to show off six or fewer shots you take or are editing within the thread's date range. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

To post your great photos, just hit reply and attach away. Feel free to start immediately.

Please:

• consider including in your post any special circumstances or tips on technique or equipment which might be interesting to others.

• identify your camera and lens if that information is easily available to you.

And please invite other Pentaxians to join us.

Some rules:
1) No theme, just post your favorite pix
2) Six or fewer images per person per thread to prevent thread bloat
3) Any Pentax, Ricoh or Samsung camera, film or digital

The current host will invite a new host via Private Message (PM), but if you are interested and willing to host POTW, please send me a PM, before I contact others.

If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one. If the thread doesn't start, please contact the host, via PM. Mostly more macros from me this week...

Tiny butterfly. Haven't figured out what it is yet...

Tablets from the old Kowloon Walled City (they used to mark the south gate):

Lychee stink bug. Gorgeous but probably a pest:

Milliipede:

I guess it's a shield bug of some sort:

Thanks for hosting again nosliwmit, super shots, especially like the Shield Bug. A contribution from me.
Lockdown rules were eased at the beginning of the month, including being able to exercise from 06h00 - 09h00. We took the opportunity to get the kids out of the orphanage, with a small group for an hour at at time. I had the pleasure of two groups, and the route I chose passed the statue (which I posted in last weeks POTW) and it had the camera with me for a couple of fun shots.

I got the kids the "kiss" the lion with their face masks on- great fun. Here one of the boys engaged the lion in chit chat- I think telling the lion not kiss him back

Dandelion flower always provide some subject matter

For the Water theme for Daily In Challenge (DIC), I got this

I like playing around with Reversed B/W

And when you don't get a photo for the DIC you have to come up with something

Some highlights from our protests which have been going on for 5 weeks against the government, which is taking away all our rights & create massive corruption under the guise of a corona crisis....We protesters do not need political, entertaining or media personalities to speak on our behalf. Nobody represents us !! The voice of the people will be heard at tomorrow’s protest! FOR people and FOR nature and AGAINST selfishness, destructiveness and ignorance of the authorities !! After the protest cycling through the streets of Ljubljana, we will read excerpts of the letters you sent to the protest mailbox last Friday at the Republic Square. WE WILL CYCLE THIS GOVERNMENT that clings to its positions and abuses them every day separately!
EVERYONE ON A BIKE FOR A HEALTHY BODY AND A HEALTHY STATE !!

All of these photos were taken within the clallenge period, with a Takumar Bayonet 135mm F2.8 lens just obtained from a fellow Pentaxian on this board. I've only had the lens a week, and haven't walked about much with it. Not a macro, and a 4' minimum focusing distance, but that said, I rather enjoy the images rendered with it and my K-S2 paring.

I agree. I am really enjoying the old lenses for that reason - just seeing what I can do with them. I have a couple of 50mm lenses now with similar results, one that I dated to around 1971 based on serial number, an f1.4 that needs m42 - PK adapter. I have a few really great shots with this feel... the other came with the 135 and is an SMC PENTAX-M 50mm f2.0, with bayonet mount. I tried it and and like the results, too. I don't have tons of Pentax lenses - my modern ones are the 18-135WR and and I do love macros with the 100mm WR macro that I got during the holidays, but I really like the bokeh on these older, more imperfect lenses. (and bang for the buck, a good clean 20-40 yr old lens, the oldest one gifted, the other two under $100 with a film camera included, can't complain!).

Thanks all for posting.

Noel - #2 is a great shot. Clever of you to get the kids to give you a photo op!
Eva - Great series. I especially like #5.
Arkansawyer - Thanks for joining us! Looks like that lens is working out well for you.

I'm a day late (and a dollar short?) but I'll get the next POTW started now...
