Contest #507 "A Different Perspective"
Posted By: cdw2000, 08-23-2020, 10:14 AM

As the winner of Challenge #506 "Serendipity", I get to pick the next challenge and the next winner!

Challenge #507 is "A Different Perspective". Post a photo with an unusual perspective, either literally or figuratively.

Rules
1. Post ONE photo (max 1024x1024).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners (Submissions in by 30 August, I'll pick the winner on the 31st)
7. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
8. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

Here's one example, though I don't deem it contest winning by any means:

The St. George temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Completed in 1877, it was the church's third temple completed, but the first in Utah. About five seconds after this photo, a bus of tourists unloaded near me.

For this photo I was able to get down really low. This is take at water level giving a very nice perspective as that was on eyelevel in this case because this “baby” elephant decided to take a swim. It was even on a rainy day, so I was basically the only photographer and obviously with my Pentax gear.

Just a note that the contest is now closed to submissions. I'll determine the winners later today. Great photo's overall, everybody. You've made my job hard!

And the winner is ...

The time has come, though this was tough to judge. All entries are excellent for this subject.

For the winner, I have to go with gump's Mt. Rushmore profile. I've never seen Mt. Rushmore from that angle. The lighting and striking contrast of Washington's face just makes it "pop" for me. Congratulations.

For 2nd place, I go with "Old Glory", by djb47. It's a very creative perspective of the U.S. flag.

3rd place is "Up, up, and away" by atupdate.

Honorable mention for humor goes to CedrusMacro for "Rush hour traffic".

I also give an honorable mention to all other entries. All were good examples of the theme and technically excellent.

I appreciate having my photo chosen and will have a new challenge posted soon. We have been in The Black Hills a number of times and this was something new (2019) or I had just never noticed before which would be odd since there were road signs and a parking area. I took this for a friend who collects "Washington" memorabilia.
