Weekly Challenge #509 - Street Photography
Posted By: Hattifnatt, 09-09-2020, 03:23 AM

Welcome to Weekly Challenge #509 - STREET PHOTOGRAPHY

Thanks Andy for an interesting challenge last week and to all who participated.

This challenge is about street photography in any way, shape or form. I've checked the past challenges and it seems to me it's been a while since the last similar challenge. During the last couple of days I've been putting some effort into this and I need some inspiration from you. I will be looking for light, composition and most important capturing that unique moment in time. You can also share a few words about the technique and how the pictures was taken, maybe it has an interesting story.

The fine print:
Every week, a new theme is picked and judged by the winner of the previous week.

The Challenge will run until midnight next Wednesday, September 16, whichever time zone you are in.

Rules
1. Post ONE photo.
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

Very good challenges in TWC these days. I had to browse my Flickr account to determine which one to take and chose this one.
This looks like a man fixing his chocolate stand, but in reality he was having lunch. This shows that a photo not always tells the entire story, some imagination or explanation can be helpful. The alternative to this photo would have been somewhat of a different take on street photography, but as you can enter only one I will have to save it for a later challenge

I used to have my GR III with me every morning on the commute, taking photo detours on the way to the office

This one is pretty recent, late June

Just for fun here is probably my first street shot from 1975, taken with a Nikkormat for a photojournalism class:

Not a traditional street shot but in the same spirit.

Guys, sorry for the delay. I went for several days of rock climbing and I completely forgot about the challenge, I will post the winners tomorrow because now I'm completely pooped, can barely type.

Sorry I don't have the time to write more about each image. Winner is Arjay Bee, while I was looking at the entries I found myself coming back to his image over and over again, so I guess he struck struck something. See you all at the next challenge!

Hi there and thank you Hattifnatt for the selection, and interesting shots from all contributors as usual.

I am travelling between countries today (remember that concept) but will get a theme up later this afternoon, hopefully when finally parked in a quarantine facility. Hope the wifi is good.

Well done Arjay!, that's a great photo. Good luck in the hotel, it seems that hotel wifi often must be put together with questionable hardware that someone else dumped.

Thanks Tom, The hotel is good, room is large, wiFi is great and unlimited. They must have done a makeover in order to keep the 300 plus quarantined occupants sane.

By the way new challenge is up:
