Weekly challenge #510 post card
Posted By: gump, 10-03-2020, 07:57 AM

Welcome to Weekly Challenge #511

I dare say that we all have many photos that are very good or even outstanding that on looking with a self-critical eye have fallen into the category of "it could be a postcard." So, post a postcard (is that redundant?). If you want to add text as if it was a postcard, feel free, but it will not enter into the judging. The winner will be the one that has me saying "I wish I had taken that one." (Yeah, that is weaselly)

ENDS MIDNIGHT OCT 11

The fine print:
Every week, a new theme is picked and judged by the winner of the previous week.

The Challenge will run until midnight next Thursday, October 1st, whichever time zone you are in.

Rules
1. Post ONE photo.
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

The last rays of Summer

I'll have a go with this 'wish you were here' moment.

Nice challenge. This photo actually not only “could be a postcard”, it actually became one. We use this one as our Christmas card a few years back.

Quite right. I was trying to catch up to things and did not pay enough attention. The number in the Title is wrong also. Groveling apology. I will start my critique (a joke) on Monday morning (US EDT), OCT 12, so entries ought to be posted by midnight Sunday, OCT 11.

I wanted to see what it would look like as an actual postcard, I may have went a tad overboard

And I thought I might have been pushing the challenge boundaries. Nicely done.

Boundaries? We don't have no stinkin" boundaries! Still, you got close with a P-40, if it had been a Spit I might have had to eliminate you as unfairly influencing the Judge.

Given current travel restrictions due to Covid, and not much hope of them being lifted any time soon, it's bitter-sweet looking through back catalog of places we have been & long to return. My contribution is probably self-explanatory: Frutillar, Chile with Osorno volcano in background. February 2019, K-5 w/Sigma 17-50 @ 21mm.
