Today my wife and I went to Mai Po Nature Reserve in Hong Kong. It's run by the World Wildlife Fund and is a great place to see birds. The first four photos were taken with my K-1 Mk II and DA*300. The last was with my D FA 100 WR macro.

Chinese Pond Heron:

Unidentified butterfly:

Daurian Redstart:

Oriental Storks (they're pretty rare):

And finally, a Trashline Orb Weaver from my back yard:

Wow, nosliwmit, that is some really fine photography you are starting us out with!

Sunset on 23 November

Friday morning had some colorful visitors, Pileated Woodpeckers, very large woodpeckers, but usually elusive:

Also spent a little time on an island Friday afternoon

I was hoping to take a full moon picture tonight, but it was cloudy. I did take some test shots last night when it was nice and clear though. The moon seems to be about the only thing I ever use my old 400 f5.6 for. It's cool seeing how the view of the moon is different from different parts of the world, I'm in western Canada.

Tonight's shots, JPEGs straight from the camera. I'll do some playing on the computer with a couple, including a sunset panorama attempt. For now these will have to do.

In this shot, the traffic trails furthest away are on the other side of the river. I have a few more long exposures with traffic trails I'm different spots I may try to combine. Not sure how well that will work, but it will be interesting to see.

Didn't take any photos this week due to COVID restrictions, yet viewing the photos in this week's thread shows how great these weekly snap compilations can be. Well done all, and thank you Nosliwmit for hosting. Hope to have some of my own on the next posting.
Cheers.

Yesterday I drove my wife to an appointment, while waiting I was bored

Last Evening I went to shoot the sunset at a pier and saw my first white ibises, all juveniles

Later last night Fester decided to plop down beside me and groom, shot this using the onboard flash, it's not too bad on the KP

This morning I took a drive through the nearby Holly Shelter Game Lands looking for birds, found none, this is the long leaf pine savannah; one of the few habitats of the red cockaded woodpecker, and I have not seen one yet.

Mixed bag of photos...

I have been doing a lot of Bird photography in the last few months but decided to shift a bit recently.

Photos are:
- Brooklyn Bridge at Sunrise a few days back (K1 MkII, Tamron 70-200, 200mm @ 7.1)
- My dog (Bree) who my daughter is making into an Instagram sensation. I set up a studio in my office (K1 MkII, FA 28-105, 28mm @ 9.0)
- Some leaves I caught on a recent photo walk (K1 MkII, DA-50 1.8, 50mm @ 8.0)
- I always love cranes (the non-bird kinds) and these are a few blocks from my house (K1 MkII, Pentax 85mm 2.0 M or K, 85mm)
- A seagull as I really like the foreground in this shot (K1 MkII, Sigma 120-400mm, 400mm @ 8.0)
- A Tufted Titmouse (my favorite bird as they look so proud with their chests and crests) (Tamron 70-200mm, 77.5mm @ 3.5)

Thanks Tom and right back at you! I love the pileated woodpeckers. There are some woodpeckers in Asia but I've never seen one. Nice ibis too. I see them when I visit Florida but I guess I've never seen a juvenile.

Thanks for joining us this week! Nice moon and adorable feline portrait. And I like the broken-down barn too!

Another fine moon! Some nice colors in your second shot - I'll bet you'll get a keeper out of it.

Looking forward to it!

Really nice photos coming out of that thing! I love the colors and tones of these photos. The sharpness and subject isolation in #2 seem like something you would need a macro lens for.

Thanks for joining us. The B&Ws are very atmospheric. I especially like #2.

The Bree portrait is fantastic - very nice lighting. And a great capture of the jaunty titmouse.

Thanks to everyone who participated. It was a great POTW!

I'm away from home this weekend (stay-cationing) and may not get next week's POTW up-and-running today. If someone wants to get it started please feel free. Otherwise I'll try to get to it tonight or tomorrow sometime.

And I've yet to see an adult, except some glossy ibises in flight.
