Potw #36 09/11/08 - 23/11/08
Welcome to POTW # 36

This week's photos will cover these dates: Sunday November 9th till Sunday November 23rd.

Let's keep up the high standard of shots we have seen over the past weeks.

Rules as before:

1) No theme just your favorite stuff.
2) Let's keep it to about 4-6 images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big each week .
3) Any Pentax camera is fine, film, P&S, DSLR (or Samsung DSLR)
4) Runs for 14 days. Sunday November 2nd to Sunday November 16th.
5) Enter anything you shot last week or this current week until the thread closes.

Embracing the telegraph pole.

There is a telegraph pole that is irritatingly in the middle of my view. For some reason this weekend, our relationship moved on to the next phase and I embraced the pole and made it a prominent feature in my shots.

First a couple of 'off kilter' landscapes;

If De Niro were a Squirrel

Nice shots Gary - very 'Batman esque ' with the tilt. Is that sky really that color ? I am amazed the yellow follows the power lines. Little more detail in #2 ,must have been a little later ?

Dave, yes that was the sky colour (boosted saturation a bit). I think I lightened the second shot more, I was trying to avoid detail in the dark area of the first shot.

That squirrel really is giving you the eye isn't it?

My squirrels are getting really fat, I think we will be in for a cold one this year Here is one from friday because I was sick as a dog this weekend. The amtrack bridge over the susquehanna, the center can rotate to let a big sailboat by (rarely). There used to be a shipyard upriver but now it's yuppie condo's.

A few from down at the park Friday evening:

Some birds of different types all together in one tree

And a couple as the light goes down (some more power lines here, Gary, but the voltage is a bit higher)

Tom, that bridge shot does give me the shivers, both cold and terror. Very Stephen Kingesque.

Kevin, those black birds against that blue sky, made me think of the Hitchcock movie, the birds. The first bird shot, starling is it, looks very menacing.
Didn't you post that power line shot in another thread, I feel sure I've already seen it. I liked it anyway.

Bruce, thanks for reminding us that you have spring colour when we have fall colour.

Here's a macro;

And a couple more featuring my favourite pole. Each one is a two shot pano that I stitched in Elements. I've already posted these in the Tamron thread but I wanted to put them here for comment.

Notice, especially in the first one, the orange glow picked up in the edges of the bay.

Tom - nice shot of the Bridge - I love the low light and fog.

Kevin - nice bird shots - the male red winged black bird (we have several here as well) I like the last two as well - nice colors in the sunset and the Silhouette is well done.

Bruce - I can see them ! It appears your flick fisaco may be over. Beautiful flowers as always jelous of the summer season approaching.

Gary - lovely macro and you sure do get some interesting skies down there. The reds in the first one is outstanding.

Thank you, Gary.

I agree, that darned starling looks positively scary!
The powerline shot or one of its kin are in the lines/patterns section.

I've been staring at empty spaces instead of your beautiful pictures for the last week or so, like many others. These ones are coming through just fine!

I figure there is a small window of opportunity to post really unremarkable photos --and that time is when you are very new to camera ownership. These were taken at work--with my students--who love my picture taking addiction.

The kids went to run around in PE and I thought I'd try capturing motion. Then there's the unexplainable mustache picture...I was bored and sharpies and scotch tape are just so handy. My girls didn't want to be left out-- they opted for a unibrow.

Thanks guys, glad you can see and indeed enjoy them.

Those sunset shots a just spectacular Gary and Kevin.
Like your bird shots too Kevin.

Don't be too jealous, Dave, we are going into summer, and the humidity on some days leaves your feeling totally drained.

Great shots so far, am looking forward to more of the same
