P52-9-42 Subject: Birds
Posted By: Tsukiouji, 03-08-2021, 05:07 PM

Let's go bird-hunting!

Photos for the Week #42 competition are to be taken between Mar 8, 2021 and Mar 21, 2021.

Rules:
1. Anyone and everyone who is interested in eligible. The goal continues to be
have fun and share comments, concepts, insights, and techniques with fellow
Pentaxians.
2. Each week will feature a Theme and Sub-concept for you to explore.
3. Post your single picture in Project 52-9 thread for the week. Explain what
motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly
theme.
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color
saturation), but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. Try to
keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves.
5. Since this project is about technique, and not camera, shots taken by non Pentax cameras are allowed.
Cameras may be SLRs, DSLRs, Point & Shoot, Medium Format, et cetera. But no phones, please.
6. There is one “Theme Concept” labeled “black and white,” but feel free to post
black and white, sepia, monotone, etc., for any of the other themes.
7. The picture you post should be taken during the week in which the theme is
active to be eligible for judging.
8. Any picture taken from thread start date to listed closing date is acceptable.

I changed it, I prefer this Great Blue Heron in breeding plumage that I took this morning

Greater Yellowlegs. I might change this if I take one that I like more. But I want to get one posted in case I don't get another chance, we have some house guests coming and may not get a chance to shoot much.

Hey all, after being contacted by Tsukiouji, I'll be judging the entries and providing feedback later today (I'm UK based). Great to entries and I'll provide feedback to all.

Hi all, thanks for being patient, the birds in the images have certainly been willing subjects! I'm aware of how difficult it is to set up a shot of avian life, so feel all did well.

Noelcmn: I like the tonality of the background and the isolation, although I wish the land the bird is on was also in the field of focus.

Risxsoul: good colours with the red of the woodpecker, they're a fun bird to track down. Bokeh is pleasing. Focus isn't quite on the subject here.

Djb47: of the 3 I'm drawn most to the gold finch, his colours as well as the pose pops. It feels like they were fleeting images to capture.

Ramseybuckeye: Very strong feeling to the heron. The grass is busy and enhances the heron as the subject for me, which is in clear focus to me.

Ramseybuckeye you're the winner for me this week! Congrats.

Looking forward to the next challenge entries.
