P52-9-50 Subject: Motion/Movement/Velocity
Posted By: Tsukiouji, 06-22-2021, 01:55 AM

For this week the focus is on showing motion.

Few tips and references:
15 Stunning Images Using Blur to Portray Movement
A Beginners Guide to Capturing Motion in Your Photography

To compensate for a late announcement the timeframe will be slightly extended. Photos for the Week #50 competition are to be taken between Jun 21 and Jun 30.

Rules:
1. Anyone and everyone who is interested in eligible. The goal continues to be
have fun and share comments, concepts, insights, and techniques with fellow
Pentaxians.
2. Each week will feature a Theme and Sub-concept for you to explore.
3. Post your single picture in Project 52-9 thread for the week. Explain what
motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly
theme.
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color
saturation), but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. Try to
keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves.
5. Since this project is about technique, and not camera, shots taken by non Pentax cameras are allowed.
Cameras may be SLRs, DSLRs, Point & Shoot, Medium Format, et cetera. But no phones, please.
6. There is one “Theme Concept” labeled “black and white,” but feel free to post
black and white, sepia, monotone, etc., for any of the other themes.
7. The picture you post should be taken during the week in which the theme is
active to be eligible for judging.
8. Any picture taken from thread start date to listed closing date is acceptable.

I'll add a recent image using motion as a key component- this was taken trying out an ND filter for the first time and long exposure. I was pleased with how this turned out. q

I'm not American, but I do like the flag touch in the background and the timing .

This is a very tough one to judge as there are only two entries, and I like both of them. I like Don's Sparkler with the flag ion the background, it shows a little motion, maybe a little more could have been shown with a little slower shutter, or would that have blown out the whole thing? I'm going to give the nod to CedrusMacro, giving credit for actually trying to slow the shutter to show (or to slow) motion.

Wow, thanks for the recognition ramseybuckeye, these weekly projects are a fun way to learn some new tricks-this one through use of ND filters and slow.shutter speed.

Cheers and well done Don, the sparkler is a fine shot.
