Project 52-10-38: Hello From .....
Posted By: djb47, 05-27-2022, 05:25 AM

Hello From ....

We are spread far and wide. What better way to introduce the rest of us to your little corner of the planet than by showing us a scene from where you live. So, say Hello From... wherever you are. Show something special about where life has presently brought you - maybe you're in your hometown or taken a tangent on a business trip. Let's see photos that tell a story or make your very own picture post-card.

Photos for Project 52-10-38 are to be taken and posted between May 27 - Jun 9.

Note the extended submission period. Seems like I tend to do this on most projects so let's try going with a two week submission period to see if we can get a few more participants. Judging is also suspended until further notice in hope to attract a few more participants.

Rules:
1. Anyone and everyone who is interested is eligible. The goal continues to be
have fun and share comments, concepts, insights, and techniques with fellow
Pentaxians.
2. Each week will feature a Theme and Sub-concept for you to explore.
3. Post your single picture in Project 52-10 thread for the week. Explain what
motivated you to take the picture or how it represents the weekly theme.
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color
saturation), but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. Try to
keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves.
5. Since this project is about technique, and not camera, shots taken by non
Pentax cameras are allowed. Cameras may be SLRs, DSLRs, Point & Shoot,
Medium Format, etc. But no phones, please.
6. There is one “Theme Concept” labeled “black and white,” but feel free to post
black and white, sepia, monotone, etc., for any of the other themes.
7. The picture you post should be taken during the week in which the theme is
active to be eligible for judging.
8. Any picture taken from thread start date to listed closing date is acceptable.

Fun idea. I’ll see if I can come up with something. The tough part is going to be narrowing my hometown to a single shot.

Well that seems like a very creative solution, but it feels like it would be sidestepping one of the challenges of the theme. I wouldn’t object to anyone using it, however, since it isn’t in my wheelhouse normally, I probably won’t use it myself. However I’m not going to rule it out entirely without some thinking about it.

Please change the title/heading to reflect the correct no i.e Project 52-10-38 and not 37. I was confused there for a minute, until I read the description.

Hello From ....... the foothills of western North Carolina

Like Uncle Vanya I had trouble narrowing my area to just one photo so I made this collage highlighting some of the sights one would see in my neck of the woods. The background map and three of the inset photos were taken this week. The others come from my files. Clockwise from the upper left: Moses Cone Manor from Bass Lake; McGalliard Grist Mill and waterfall; Moravian Falls; Tutle Forest hiking trail; Blowing Rock park; old farmstead; and Chimney Rock.

Hello from Orlando, Soweto, Greater Johannesburg. An old landmark, given a new lease on life.
