Project 52-10-46: My Back Yard
Posted By: djb47, 07-22-2022, 06:51 AM

Not much guidance needed this week and you do not have to travel far for this project, just step out your back door and see what you find interesting to photograph. It may be weeds, flowers, plants, or critters. Whatever, show us what's in your backyard. Happy snapping.

Photos for Project 52-10-46 are to be taken and posted between July 22 - Aug 4 .

Upcoming Projects:

P52-10-47 Distortion 7/29
P52-10-48 One Light Source 8/5

P52-10-49 Uncommon 8/12
P52-10-50 Food 8/19

Rules:
1. Anyone and everyone who is interested is eligible. The goal continues to be
have fun and share comments, concepts, insights, and techniques with fellow
Pentaxians.
2. Each week will feature a Theme and Sub-concept for you to explore.
3. Post your single picture in Project 52-10 thread for the week. Explain what
motivated you to take the picture or how it represents the weekly theme.
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color
saturation), but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. Try to
keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves.
5. Since this project is about technique, and not camera, shots taken by non
Pentax cameras are allowed. Cameras may be SLRs, DSLRs, Point & Shoot,
Medium Format, etc. But no phones, please.
6. There is one “Theme Concept” labeled “black and white,” but feel free to post
black and white, sepia, monotone, etc., for any of the other themes.
7. The picture you post should be taken during the week in which the theme is
active to be eligible for judging.
8. Any picture taken from thread start date to listed closing date is acceptable

Pentax K-1 mII Limited Silver and A100f2.8 Macro at f2.8

My backyard is tiny, scarcely larger than this tiny dandelion (?) flower. Luckily I had something to photograph other than grass and the shrubbery. I'm also on a "shoot wide open" kick, and f2.8 wasn't even sufficient for the whole bloom.

Had a go at this with my newly acquired Pentacon 30mm 3.5 and quite new K200D which is bit bashed up but may well become my permanent M42 body.

I recently ripped up a large area of rotten decking to find some ugly concrete slabs beneath.
Until they get replaced there are a number of objects transiting to the tip just sitting there. I tried framing a few things until I settled on this shot.
Got it right 2nd time, first effort blew a few highlights on the silvering, so underexposed and then corrected with minimal PP in DCU

Our backyard blue bird box has a squatter. This flying squirrel has found himself a new home. We run him off but he keeps coming back.

I went out in the back yard to hoot this large mushroom, as I was setting the camera and tripod up, the neighbor cat was coming near and laying behind the mushroom, I didn't notice until I went to compose, and there he was!
