Weekly Challenge #586 - It's Music to My Ears
Posted By: jheu02, 07-30-2022, 07:21 PM

Welcome to Weekly Challenge #586. Thanks to atupdate for the last challenge. Choosing my image as the winner means I needed to come up with a topic! This weeks challenge is It's Music To My Ears. Music plays a huge role in many lives, brings great joy, can make us feel happy, sad, etc. So, the challenge is to show me in some way shape or form that music is important to you. It can be most anything as I hope a couple examples will show.

The fine print:

Every week, a new theme is picked and judged by the winner of the previous week.

The Challenge will run until midnight Saturday 6 August 2022 EDST. Judging will happen (hopefully) on Sunday (work schedule taking me out of the country). Good luck!

Rules
1. Post ONE photo.
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread.
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

So, use it as a reason to head across the river into A'dam and get to one of the music bars like the Waterhole or other down in that section of town. Doesn't have to be a picture of live music. Just convey to me that you like/appreciate/can play, etc...

Well, i most certainly do not play and going to Amsterdam to go to a bar is not really my thing, plus health wise not recommendable unfortunately. On a completely unrelated side note, photographing people is not my strongpoint. local festivals is something I do like, especially with “foreign” music and influences. Nowadays these are somewhat rare though. The photo was taken in 2017.
I love music a lot and would have maybe taken a photo of my gear if it was worth it. I do have a Woo Audio tube amplifier on my wishlist which would be a great subject, but these are only available on your side of the pond so importing adds around 25% on an already not low list price sadly enough.

Sorry if there was any upset about suggesting you get out for a different shot...you seemed to be a little down on the one you submitted. What I was trying to convey was there are lots of other ways to show a love of music which is why in the examples I included the well used tuba I found while walking around New Orleans one year, and some closeups of some gear I have. Had I had a shot of sheet music (a favorite piece perhaps even though I don't play either) I would have used it as an example. So, no worries. Thanks for wanting to play this week.

no worries on your side either John,

I was really not upset in any way. I just tried to convey that it was a “difficult” topic for me as it is outside of whta I normally shoot. Everyone has so it’s favorites and that is a good thing. Might pose an issue with some of the challenges though .

For me it is a very difficult thread too because it is my favorite theme and I have thousands of pictures - really hard to choose and finally I decided do show something almost new from the last concert I visited
Thanks for this challenge John

My headphones. Literally music to my ears, I guess. I probably wouldn't have coped with what happened to me three years ago if it wasn't for the music.
