Weekly Challenge #589 - Shadows
Posted By: aaacb, 09-02-2022, 08:40 AM

Welcome to Weekly Challenge #589, Shadows. Thanks Yaki for inviting me to host.

The theme is to feature a shadow as an important part of your composition. It has to be a distinct shadow, and not just some background that is dark. Otherwise, anything is suitable. Including one example below.

The challenge will run until midnight September 10 2022, judging a day or two after that.

The fine print:

Every week, a new theme is picked and judged by the winner of the previous week.

Rules
1. Post ONE photo.
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread.
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

This is a bit of a tricky one for me and I hope this one qualifies. In this photo is the bloodmoon from July 2018. So the photo is almost entirely shadow as it is a lunar eclipse. There is a planet in the photo, so a couple of pixels worth of sunlight.

It's hard to get away from construction on Toronto streets these days - might as well make the most of it.

Awaiting clearance to start P&W Mark-12B shadow-repulsion engines. These engines work on the audio-dynamic theory that the more noise you make, the more separation you can achieve from your shadow.

Destination: Infinity and beyond.

Most certainly. The Mark-12 B version can also be powered by exposure to high contrast, 24 MB or better images with > 56.3% coverage of 167 bit or better chromo-castic shadows . . . or, 2.7 grams of black crayon on glossy white paper provides 5.72 hrs reserve at nominal cruise speed.

Night flight requires an additional 15% reserve of either crayon or black shoe polish. A future Mark-12 C engine will operate with video-enhanced moon shadows as well.

Leads to a revolution in in-flight refueling methods. Look for a stock offering soon.

It's a small shadow, but makes the shot I think. Otherwise, it's just a spider on a flower.

I already have 3 favorites and suppose this won't be easy judging 🙃.
