#590 - Neo-Noir
Posted By: Vaskebjorn, 09-18-2022, 01:19 AM

Welcome to Weekly Challenge #590. Thanks to aaacb for the last challenge, it was a real fun one that made me go through my archives. For this weeks challenge I am not going to make it easy for either the participants or myself for that matter. As the days are getting longer and darker again (at this side of the globe at least) an idea popped into my head. A long time ago I hosted the challenge with the subject film noir and this time I will pick a variation to that theme being neo-noir. The feeling of the two genres are comparable I guess, but neo-noir is in color. That means, no black and white. Mono to some extend is possible though. If you want some inspiration have a look at the Memphis noir series made by Anthony Presley.
As always, I am not a person for “technicalities”, so the “feeling” of the photo is a main driver for my judgement.

I hope you will like and enjoy it enough to participate.
The fine print:

Every week, a new theme is picked and judged by the winner of the previous week.

The Challenge will run until midnight Saturday 24 September 2022 . Judging will happen (hopefully) on Sunday. Good luck!

Rules
1. Post ONE photo.
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread.
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

Hi Tim,
This one would do great in the film noir genre, but i would like a “bit” more color as I excluded B&W from the challenge. Maybe the confusion I created is that I said mono under certain circumstances is allowed, but i meant black and red or black and blue which can occur due to lighting. Fortunately there is a lot of time left, so I hope you hve an alternative.

Richard.

Thanks Kerrowdown - I thought the "femme fatale" suited the "noir" theme.

It's a long distance relationship with a short distance lens.
