Weekly Challenge #83: Machines

Weekly Challenge #83: Machines

I am hoping this is a generic enough topic to encourage lots of entries and will make the judging a challenge.

Machines can be big or small, old or new. Extra credit for those that use interesting framing or use a selective dof to emphasize parts of the machine. I think this subject has great possibilities from macro's of small parts of machines all the way to machines bigger than a house.

Contest begins now and will run until 5pm Pacific time on Sunday Jan. 4th. Winners will be posted on the evening of Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009.

Good luck and have fun!

Frank
--------------------------------------------
As usual the Rules are as Follows :

1. Post ONE photo (max 1000x1000).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme. It can be color or B&W, your choice.
3. You can offer as much or as little additional information as you wish, but if you have to explain it, it probably doesn’t communicate what you are trying for.
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and chose 1 of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus a day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera will do or a Samsung DSLR.

Here is a WASHING machine - nothing fancy, but it looks like this challenge could use more participation!

Oh what to do on one very windy day... Oh I know, search for machinery! At least those things are standing still (unlike floral and insect subjects)

Nice Topic Frank some interesting shots. Here is one from me - the question that comes to mind whenever I look at this is how the heck did that machine get up there and what knd of danger pay is the operator making sheeeesh. The elevation is around 6k feet.

Good submissions so far!

Ed, that is a sharp shot of the train. I love the composition.

Chris, your machine looks quite capable.

Joe, your washing machine is a riot of cool colors. I like the idea.

Tim, now that is more than one machine if you ask me. Anyone who can ride on that thing and the horses that drive it are machine like too.

Garth, talk about gridlock! Yikes! Well seen and captured!

D, I hope you have an up to date tetanus shot, that machine of yours looks pretty rusty.

Dave, how the heck did you get lucky enough to come across this shot? I love the red digger against the earth and tall green pines in the background. It looks awful precarious! Excellent eye on this one.

I just had to comment on these machines because I enjoyed each one.
Maybe I'll see if I can't find something to submit.

Carry on...

A very big machine

I froze my A** off to take this one. Swirling winds on a -15C night.

Thanks Tim, I like yours as well (I don't normally comment in this thread till it closes) but it's a classic shot and very rare these days.
