Weekly Challenge #602 - Doors
Posted By: Bruce Clark, 01-23-2023, 03:01 AM

As many of us travel around we pass through we and pass by many doors. Sometimes we are left wondering what is on the other side. Here are some from my wanderings; from a shearing shed on the Murrumbidgee River to Europe.

The fine print:

Every week, a new theme is picked and judged by the winner of the previous week.

This challenge will run until 30th January 2023 midnight AEST

Rules:
1. Post ONE photo.
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

Really great entries, this will be tough to judge. There are still a few hours to go. I will close at midnight local time and post a winner tomorow.

Ok Folks challange is closed and judgement is upon us.. Honestlt I was never too sure how to judge this and after seeing the entries I was none the wiser. Technically all photos were excellent so I have to go with gut feeling. So lets rip in order of appearance.

Gump:- A beautiful black and white. Strong shadows and while the door itself is hidden, there is mystery behind it.
UncleVanya:- This one puzzles me. A solid red wooden door with solid hinges and no locking mechanism, mounted in a stone frame. The doggy door on the other hand has a higher level of security. Why is the door even there? One is able to simply walk around the door and continue down the path.
Kerrowdown:- No one but no one gets through this door.
Vaskebjorn:- Inticate patterns. Is the hand written 358 the street number?
Fdooch:- Another solid door to keep the rascals out
Turbobird:- This one has seen better days. Great texture with the faded paint and stone walls.
Jheu02:- An old one for sure. Beautiful texture and colours in the stone.
pacerr:- Unpainted texture against the white snow. with the little extra for a four legged friend.
yaki:- Another black and white. Great texture and patterns in the metal work grille. Entrance to a temple perhaps.
SpecialK:- Exteme fisheye. What lies behind the green door. We may never know unless we find the other door. I wonder what colour it is?
rod-grant:- An old corrugated iron shed has seen better days. Several repairs and make do add to the character.
noelcmn:- A nice classic looking panelled door. I like the inclusion of the light above.
jchorst:- Nice one. I had to look twice to see the fifth chair. Well done. A great mix of textures from faded paint to stonewoth to plastic glass and metal.

Well there has to be a winner and this week it goes to UncleVanya. Doors have two purposes; to keep people out and to let people in. Of all the doors this was the only open one but even then the mystery of it is still there. Why does this door even exist?
Runner up is jchorst with the five chair trick. Nice one.

Honestly Honourable Mentions to all, they were all very good entries.

Thanks everyone for participating. A PM is on the way to UncleVanya to host the next Challenge

Congrats to UncleVanya and also to the runner up and HM. Thanks Bruce for judging this great challenge.
As for the number on the door, that is actually for tax purposes for as far as I know. We also had a number on the door and it was certainly not our housenumber.
