Project 52, Week 30 - Black and White 50mm
Posted By: DanLoc78, 12-28-2008, 06:38 PM

In honor of the travelling 50 I thought we could revisit one of the more popular P52 themes (black and white) with a slight twist...your shot must be taken at 50mm (50mm for film or the equivalent for digital). It doesn't have to be taken using a prime. All the other regular rules (below) also apply:

Rules:

1. Anyone and everyone who is interested is eligible
2. Make an attempt to effectively capture the theme of the week
3. Post your single picture in this thread, and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color saturation) but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. let's try to keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves
5. There is one theme labeled black and white, but feel free to post black and white, sepia, etc. for any of the other themes
6. Have fun, provide constructive and friendly criticism, and fire away
7. You may post pictures taken before the current active week; however, only photos captured during the active week will be judged.

This week's theme will run from today until Monday, January 7th.

getting caught up here in the forum after some holiday travel, here is a
shot I took that captures this theme perfectly. We made the long
trek down to Texas to visit my brother and his wife and their two new
twin babies. Here's the proud papa:

taken by room light with M50/1.7 (at f2.0 or 2.8) ISO 800 1/60 and
converted to B&W with GIMP

Tamron 28-75mm, 1/250 f/6.3 ISO 400 at 50mm. Uncropped. Originally shot as a study for practicing B&W conversions. I shot it at ISO 400 because the light was rather flat/low. I like the result and since I don't have anything else and this was shot at 50mm, I thought I'd submit it. Thanks.

As usual, Great Pics Everyone!!
Here is my entry for 50mm B&W.
My son was playing with one of his x-mas toys and he was really focused on what he was doing.

Some great pics. Well done everyone.

I've spent the last week in bed sick with the flu, so thought I'd try something new...for me at least. I've enjoyed the challenge of this weeks theme. However, the pic I was going to post was taken at 50mm, but I cropped it to get a better effect. The result is it is no longer a true 50mm shot...sorry!!! Will try again tmw.

It does make things little busy with both of them to judge.
