PROJECT 52-11-63(Supplemetary) RANDOM SUBJECT - TECHNOLOGY
Posted By: noelcmn, 11-20-2023, 06:27 AM

Welcome to the 11th edition of Project 52. I have participated in a few Project 52 kind of thing and there are plenty out there. One of the many aspects that have come to the fore is the value of participating, one of them being how much you learn-about technique, out of the box thinking, getting to know your camera's potential and a host of other values. WHY NOT JOIN THE PROJECT! Besides some discipline, there is not much else required except if you are chosen the winner, in which case you judge the next weeks challenge.

Themes covered will include but not limited to:
Colour
Architecture
DOF
Focus
Exposure
Landscape
Lighting
Perspective
Shutter
Subject- Multi-subject challenge
People
Ideas
Shapes
Home
Animals
Seasonal
Leisure

Rules
1. Anyone and everyone interested in the challenge is eligible. The goal continues to be to have fun and share comments, concepts, insights, and techniques
with fellow Pentaxians.
2. Each week will feature a Theme and Sub-concept for you to explore. The theme/sub-concepts are chosen by the facilitator every week. You are only
required to submit a photo taken during the week of the challenge.
3. Post your single picture in Project 52-11 thread for the week. Explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly
theme.
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color saturation), but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. Try to
keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves.
5. Since this project is about technique, and not camera, shots taken by non Pentax cameras are allowed. Cameras may be SLRs, DSLRs, Point & Shoot,
Medium Format, et cetera. And we will include images taken with phones as well.
6. There is one “Theme Concept” labeled “black and white,” but feel free to post black and white, sepia, monotone, etc., for any of the other themes.
7. The picture you post should be taken during the week in which the theme is active to be eligible for judging. It is up to the discretion of the current week's
Judge to accept or decline early/late entries i.e. a day earlier or a day late. Usually there is some flexibility here to allow as many entrants as possible. BUT
PLEASE DO NOT POST IMAGES TAKEN DAYS OR WEEKS OUTSIDE THE PERIOD OF THE CHALLENGE. TRY TO KEEP IT AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE
TO THE TIME FRAME. SOME FLEXIBILITY IS ALLOWED (after all life comes before photography) FOR OUT OF DATE/LATE SUBMISSIONS.
8. Additional images are welcome, but please keep them to a minimum. If more than one image is posted, make sure you identify your entry for the challenge.
Additional images should also please comply with rule 1 and rule 7.
9. Any picture taken from thread start date to listed closing date is acceptable. By default, attached photos will be shown below your message
Click on the button below to upload
10. The WINNER of each weekly challenge is the JUDGE of the next weeks Project 52-11 and may not participate in the current challenge.
11. The host/facilitator (in this case noelcmn) may participate in the challenge, provided he/she is not the judge.

This is a supplementary contest, or "unofficial" Project 52-11 challenge, seeing that we have reached Week 52 of Project 52-11. This will run until the end of December 2023, to enable Project 52-12 to commence at the beginning of 2024. These supplementary challenged will include various themes, sub-themes and/or random subjects.
As usual, Project 52 is presented as a challenge to learn, develop and challenge yourself in your photography skills. It will folllow the usual format as far as Judging, time frames etc. Your participation is much appreciated.

And penultimate challenge of random subjects of materials that form so much a part of our daily lives, this week it is Technology. Which I do not need to mention, has revolutionized out daily lives beyond measure. Here it is a case of anything goes, from IT, Music, Sound and visual arts. Not forgettin transport, and maybe even a space suttle . Anything really that has made our lives easier and more pleasurable or as is typically presented, "makes for a good experience".

Not much help from the web for this one

And still hoping for a facilitator/host for PROJECT 52-12 for 2024!

Here's one of the most important technologies that made the industrial revolution possible. It is considered by many to be the mother of all machine tools, and what made other advancements in machining possible. Mine isn't quite that old, made in 1978, but the principle is the same.

I should have put some cutting oil on the steel and spun it faster to get more smoke, but it was already tough to get a nice looking curled chip coming off it.

Not many to chose from this time.

Noel, you should see my mess of wires behind my desk. I wish mine could be as neat as yours.
turbo_bird, machine lathes are such cool machines and that curly shaving carries the day for this challenge. You have the honor of judging the next Project.

Thanks Don for doing the honors. Need I say, the table/desk had all the other clutter suitably moved out of view . Congrats Turbo_bird!

Thanks for choosing my shot. I also had to frame it tight to avoid showing how cluttered my shop is.

It definitely gets used. I've got it mostly full of motorcycles and parts now, after my wife got some projects for me. A parts bike for an old Suzuki street bike that looks to be complete enough I can maybe make a whole extra bike from it, and a bunch of dirtbike parts she brought home from work, along with a couple bikes that they were going to toss out after the owners didn't come back to pay their bills and pick up the bikes. I won't post photos of the current mess of parts scattered all over the floor to be sorted, but here's one of the bikes she got for free, just needed a few days of work on my part to get it back together and running. Now that I've got it running pretty good and it seems to be a keeper, there will be more parts showing up for it. At least I don't have quite as many bikes as I do cameras.

The problem always seems to be that there's time to kind of finish most projects, but never time to put everything back in its place and do a proper cleanup after. Then of course that makes every job after that take longer. But if course if I have a big enough mess, that means my wife and kids aren't tempted to go in there to borrow tools that I might find later in the house or the yard somewhere. So I guess there's a plus side to the mess.
