#643 Rain
Posted By: Kerrowdown, 02-26-2024, 01:02 PM

Welcome to Weekly Challenge #643 - Rain (the heavier the better)

Many thanks to Hattifnatt last weeks challenge, this week it's all about the promotion of Pentax WR capabilities... when others fear to tread and dash for cover... we just keep on shooting.

The Challenge is open until 20:00 GMT on Tuesday 5th March 2024.

Every week, a new theme is picked and judged by the winner of the previous week.

Rules
1. Post ONE photo.
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

A few of mine to give the flavour of the challenge...

Man o man, you send me on a wild goosechase for this one. I was convinced I had a photo of rain in Tunesia which is reasonably rare, especially in summer but I was not able to find it. It might have been a non-Pentax photo that I took. So I had to go another route and as you requested rain, the heavier the better I came up with this interpretation with the aftermath of rain (even though it was still raining when I took this photo). It’s not necessarily heavy rainfall, but for this little fellow it’s probably extremely heavy.
I hope this qualifies, if not, just let me know.

Thanks , as you know we do not have as much rain here as you have over-there in Scotland
So rainy pictures is really really hard.

That’s probably just as well or you’d really be underwater there.

To be honest , I actually live in the “Flevopolder” which used to be the bottom of the sea and I always say that if the sea levels rise I keep mug feet dry the longest as we have dikes an very good pumps to keep the water on the proper side of said dikes. Obviously that excludes Scotland as you live well above sea level (I assume)

Aye I knew that much of the land had been reclaimed from the sea and subsequently is below sea level.

As for The Highlands of Scotland, all I’ll say is if I’m ever flooded… we’re talking a world catastrophe on a biblical scale where Arks would be required.

If that ever happens, I will “finish” my other hobby which is Islay whiskey and to be specific Laphroig. I have a couple of collectible bottle hidden away and if I empty them an apocalyptic event would not bother me much anymore I guess. But let’s keep it positive so I can keep collecting them and we all keep our feet dry.

Scotland is still on my bucket list by the way although I doubt if I ever get there due to health reasons and accessibility issue as I use a set of fancy wheels to get around.

The daily grind. Not a heavy rain but it doesn't make it any nicer going into work.

With all the WR excitement that surrounds Pentax kit, I did expect a few more submissions.

Ok submissions now closed, time to select a winner.

I’m away from base camp at the moment on assignment, so I’ll be brief.

The grand prize goes to Hattifnatt, so the task falls to you for the next challenge.

Mentioned him despatches goes to Noelcmn

Thanks to all for your participation.
