Welcome to POTW #44, 1/11/09 - 1/18/09

Rules as before:

1) No theme just your favorite stuff.

4) Date : Sunday 1/04/09/ till Sunday 1/18/09.

Gary - cool stuffs . It's nice and sunny out now so I might get a chance to play with my m42 85/1.9 along that style . This wacky weather turns everything upside down ! You're a poet too ?

Dave Kitson - Nice catch . As much as I love the sun , we need some rains badly or we will be a bunch of stinky Californians with this dry season !

• Thanks for hosting Tran! She looks great! Classy and self conscious! The second nature shot is excellent!
Wow, just one day and already two pages, seems to be geting a fine week!

• Borno, wonderful eagles again. I'd like to to be able to chase both kind of birds (with camera) The last extra is fantastic!
• Wayne, ,love those theater photos! If these are the same that were in "Post.." they sure look more impressive here when they are now in bigger format.
• Dave, nice wild life shots, where the first two shot with your 55-200? The last looks quite sharp to me, you must have lead in your hands!
• Garth, now that's a handsome lion!
• Gary, interesting how those iron rods an the natural photos fit together in that series, Was that intentional?
• Dave K, beautiful soggy deer!

I have to wait to get something to post later this week.

Dantuyhoa, very nice protrait there. Ambient lighting.

Tom, very good shots from you again. Always majestic work.

Wayne, the lighting really casts a great mood in the series. A little like theatre play?

Dave, you are such a varied photographer. Exploring many areas of photography

Garth 1948, fantastic capture of this majestic being

Gary, congradulation on the new lens. The last one is my favorite

Georg, they were all taken at the nursery where I work. I'm used to seeing that stuff together so I guess you could say it was subconsciously deliberate.
I did deliberately put the two shots of the iron bars with the red caps after the rose shot because compositionally they are similar.
The iron bars are actually christmas tree stands.

Dave (Kitson), nice shot of that group of deer. I don't think I've ever seen a wet one before.

James, really nice flowing water shot, I like the composition. It's a shame about that dead wood near the middle of the shot, it adds to it but at the same time it detracts, which I guess makes it neutral.

mingdie - very good shots of Aikido - I think you captured the expressions well.

Tran - thanks for the comments. Nice PP - has a lord of rings feel to it.

garth1948 - looks like the king of the jungle is on a break - nice shot.

Gary - good poem haha - the rose in January wow - flowers flowers flowers come on now what do you work in a nursery Interesting abstracts on the iron - and the leaf is cool (I have a couple like that as well)

Dave - nice shots of some deer looking for cover.

Georg - thanks for the comments. I like the pp and framing on that shot. BW was a good call.

James - thanks I try have not really found my niche yet - probably landscape but that is the easisest I think I would like to do more people and widlife. Nice shot the slow flowing water looks so peaceful.

This is going great . Thanks guys !

James - Wonderful water shot ! Very nice composition . There are always so much emotion in your shots .

Georg - Thanks . Cool snow image . Is that really dark ? You might want to bump up the exposure . Snow reflects so much light that it might look brighter that it is .

Dave - interesting church indeed . Odd looking .

I had fun with my el cheapo Super Tak 85/1.9

Backlit shot . I wanted those bokek light spots . Shot wide open .

Dinner with Super Tak

I called this "Rosemary Hope " ! Green always ! Simple but wonderful herb . Go well with just about anything . Super Tak against the light , wide open , too .

Thanks!
This was a conversion from a darkish late afternoon cloudy dim photo. I guess it could be lightened a bit more, but is easily get burned. I decided to keep it dark to reproduce the actual mood as it was. I also over sharpened it a little to get a more graphical appearance. I may work on it more...
