Weekly challenge #646 - Lonely
Posted By: Vaskebjorn, 03-28-2024, 08:50 AM

Another week for a photo challenge although it was a bit hard to get a subject after the poetic one jchorst posted last week. I chose a somewhat different one for this week so no poetic but one about the feeling in a photo and that feeling has to be lonely. It doesn’t necessarily have to be someone being lonely but the feeling has to be there. So dig into you archives and/or go out wandering and see what you can come up with as I am really curious about your work on this subject. The subjects can be people, animals or things, that's up to you. I give you som examples to make things clear. Have fun!

The fine print:
Every week, a new theme is picked and judged by the winner of the previous week.

The Challenge will run until midnight next Thursday April 4th, whichever time zone you are in.

Rules
1. Post ONE photo.
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

Oops sorry for the date. As I posted yesterday the deadline will be April 4th and that is obviously not an April 1 joke . I will adjust the post accordingly.

This picture came into my mind in the moment I sow the topic

And the theme of loneliness is in fact very widespread in Poetry. Trust me. I say it as a poet. An awarded one

Hi Yaki,
I wanted to start this challenge with a poem to get the idea out to all participants but it was a bit long so I opted for the shorter take. There are indeed masses of poems that are loneliness themed as I found out. I actually found a poem by Peter s. Quin named “a man walking in the street” that i thought to use. I like that you also do poems which is a bit like photography in my idea, just a photo with feeling set in words. Photoshop or comparable programs won’t help with fine tuning it though, it’s more like the old fashioned film photography.

Alone, but the view up here is incredible!

Playing around with my beat up, generic 500mm lens coupled with a Kenko 2X teleconverter, I catched a brief moment of loneliness, up where only those who want to refrain from others seek comfort and peace

Jokes apart, I don't know if the site's resolution limit allows to see what's at the top of this tower, but I found it amusing to catch this seagull up there, all alone, probably having the time of its life.

My entry maintaining the poetic theme. Did you know that there is a type of Street Photography known as Poetic (according to this writer Types and Styles of Street Photography).
Which leads me effortlessly into a plug for another ongoing weekly challenge:

The task is really interesting. I think we can return to this topic many times. You can follow the link to my humorous interpretation. Where can you see the Pentax green color, which is why I love it so much). The CCD Sensor Cult. I mean Club... - Page 312 - PentaxForums.com
