Back in business!

After several weeks away apart from the odd photo, both due to a major meltdown in the network storage drive and then building a new computer while the weather was bad, there is finally time to pick up the camera!

Some free time at last and good weather!

Red-winged blackbird

Who's watching who?

dave - those are nice shots. I like the way you have lighted up the POTW thread.

Bramela - nice egret pics. from your shots, the egrets in Australia look bigger than the ones we have on California

smf - nice color with that new lens of yours

kevindt - those are great bird shots

Toshi - very sharp and nice color

I decided to try some macros this morning.

Pentax A 28mm f/2.8 + 25mm extension tube - cropped a little
For this shot I hand held the camera and the camera was so close the lens was touching the circuit board!

The following were a little easier to get, I used a tripod and the Vivitar 105mm S1 macro. 105mm is much nicer to work with when doing macros than is the 28mm. It's nice to not have to be so close to the subject.
Vivitar S1 105mm f/2.5 - cropped a little

Vivitar S1 105mm f/2.5 + 25mm extension tube - uncropped

Another great week folks. Keep up the great shooting!

Rense - thanks for hosting; a nice selection of shots - the shepherd is my favourite
Dave - like the ice sculptures but really like the last night shot
Frank - nice macros - the K20+Viv 105 is one of my favourite combos
MrApollinax - interesting image - captures the imagination
Georg - like the gulls
dayah - enjoy the 50; ssms like there are lots of new toys this week. You, Rense, Toshi, jezza323
Raylonn - nice set, my fav is the 3rd -- lots more snow up here!
Seacapt - like the 2nd
Tom - like the seashore for a change of pace
Bruce - great job on the egrets
SMF - another nice poinsetta
Kevin - really like the 2nd
Toshi - the 300+1.4 really pops - grat detail and isolation
I finally got around to posting some work fro provincial swim champs here. All are shot indoors with the F*300 at ISO 1600. (I know, Pentax doesn't do sports....)

Rense THanks for the comments and I rarley forget an extra battery. I have so many batteries I kick my self for that !

Bruce - thanks for the comments - the ice schultrues will last as long as the weather holds out (well below freezing) and or Vandelism leaves them alone ! I thinkn the offical festival is 2 weeks but they can last much longer. Nice Egret shots indeed not bad at all for a relatively inexpensive lens.

smf - nice shot - very subtle color changes I like it.

Kevin -wow when it rains it pours so many things going wrong ! I like the red winged black bird and eagle shots, that last one is a keeper as well - welcome back.

Toshi - sharp as a tack beautiful bokeh well done.

Frank - haha thanks for the comments. Not bad for hand held indeed verry sharp.

Dave - thanks fo the comments - I wanted a better one need a tripod. Nice action on the swing shots.

Tom - seems you did indeed ruffle some feathers and got it right from the horses month !
