Hey Dave, welcome back! We were so happy you showed us your foot last week .
Nice shots BTW, especially the middle one. And thanks for hosting this week.

Next POTW has to be a celebration one, don't you think?

Thanks Tom - it was great weather - two days of off and on rain - the rest was Sunny and warm. Arrived home at the Edmonton Airport at a balmy -15 Celsius

Thanks Rense - yeah I did get online twice while I was away for very short periods - it's good to go unconnected once in a while. Indeed a full year time flies for sure.

I have so many shots (about 2k) so have to go through them I am ok to post for the next little while

Allow me to contrast Dave's nice and warm shots. 2 from the weekend and a third during last night's ice storm.

It was raining last night when I tried to take this and frankly I wasn't up for using a tripod and standing outside while ice formed on me and the gear. So a handheld shot at 1600, 1 second, using the car window as a steadying rest. The ice is still here this morning so tonight I will get out and see what's possible. So this one's a bit soft. Even with SR 1 second's a bit long.

Nice shots Peter - I love the last one. I like them all. Since you started these POTW contests I think it only fitting your should host next week 52 to celebrate a year

I did indeed have a two week break however as I look out my window now I see strange white flakes falling from the sky. The weather man is also using negative numbers to describe upcomming weather

On that note here are a few more to help us Canadians warm up....

I was up in San Francisco last night visiting my son. On the way home I stopped to take a few night shots.
All the shots below were hand held, K20, Tamron 28-75mm, at iso 1600.

Dave - Your shots are nice. That looks like a nice, warm place to vacation. Where were you in Mexico? It looks similar to the beaches I visited many years ago on the Yucatan Peninsula.

Peter - Your shots make me cold just looking at them. My favorite is the water fall.

Frank - we stayed at the Grand Mayan Rivera in Quintana Roo - indeed the Yucatan Peninsula. It is south of Cancun about an hour. Between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen. Just a few minutes south of Puerto Morelos (another great beach) The first beach is Akumal, where you can snorkel and see lots of coral , fish and turtles. The last two are from Isla Mujures an island just off Cancun. I have never seen whiter sand or clearer water. We hit a few beaches (we had a vehicle). Where did you stay ?

Nice street photograhy - ISO 1600 wow makes me rethink the K20D more and more (with nothing newer for the next several months ...)

I thought that beach looked familiar. We also stayed in Akumal. My wife and I vacationed in the Yucatan about 20 years ago and visited the several Mayan sites near Merida - like Chichén Itzá and Uxmal, before going to Akumal.

It's been a while since I have posted - but still been busy with my camera.

Peter - I love your photos - especially the first one!

Dave - The falcon is great!! Wish I had more fly around my place - I would photograph them for sure!

One of the things that I have been practising is my portrait photography! Here are a select few from the last week.

Wow, some great shots from everyone. Peter, those waterfalls are gorgeous and the old stone bridge, wow...

This is one I put up in Post-Yer-Photos but I'll link it here too. It's a slightly reworked version to remove some camera distortion, straighten the horizon, etc.
