Project 52, Week 40 - Concentric Circles
Posted By: DanLoc78, 03-12-2009, 01:01 PM

Rules:

1. Anyone and everyone who is interested is eligible
2. Make an attempt to effectively capture the theme of the week
3. Post your single picture in this thread, and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme
4. Some post-processing is OK (adjusting white balance, exposure, color saturation) but let's try to stay away from heavily PP'ed images here. let's try to keep the creativity to photographic techniques and the captures themselves
5. There is one theme labeled black and white, but feel free to post black and white, sepia, etc. for any of the other themes
6. Have fun, provide constructive and friendly criticism, and fire away
7. You may post pictures taken before the current active week; however, only photos captured during the active week will be judged.

This week's theme -Concentric Circles- will run from today until Sunday, March 22nd.

Not from this weeik

Ooops, I'd been following subscribed threads & only just noticed the new Project 52.

This one's old, but for the sake of getting posting going, here's one I think I've posted elsewhere. Not strictly circles I know, but a conversation starter if nothing else:

View Picture EXIF
Name: Bored Bullfighter - Ollantaytambo - Peru.jpg

Size: 75.4 KB

Most people at Ollantaytambo, Peru, take photos of the Inca fortress/experimental farm. As did I, but I also snapped this from over its cliff-like edge.

Pretty pedestrian, but I like the lonely person on the wall. I've got to dig up the full-res original (not on this computer) and see if I can squeeze some decent detail out of it.

Here is an old picture that is not for judging. I'm having a hard time finding concentric circles for some reason.

circles

patterns are interesting themes of shooting and nature is very generous in giving us subjects to study. this one was shot yesterday at the zoo, and I like it for its simplicity/ natural patterns it offers.

I finally figured out something to photograph for this week. My problem was I was thinking too BIG. What I needed to do was think small. Here is a Macro shot of a BNC connector:

thank you for your interest, indeed, the picture looks surreal imo due to the pattern repetition/warrior look of the peacock (helmet like head due to the position)

I want to show this contest a little love, as I quite like the concentric circle idea.

One has to be very generous to count this shot, however, as the shapes aren't circles and even where there is sort of "cicle within circle (dark blobs inside the lower ice blobs) they aren't strictly speaking concentric to the blobs they're in (actually "eccentric"!). But I love this ice formation I came across yesterday & want to share:
